GLA 45 AMG
New GLA 45 Owner

Hello Everyone, my name is Abhi, I just bought a 2015 GLA 45 AMG a few days ago. This is my first Mercedes AMG, My history of cars is only Beemer as my first car was a 2015 435i and most recently I had a 2017 440i. I really just wanted to try something else and I loved the way the GLA 45 drives and love how understated it is, that is the main reason why I bought it, really wanted a sleeper car. The car currently has 35k kms and wanted to know what sort of maintenance I should expect. Should I change spark plugs immediately as the car has never had that done and also what else I should do maintenance wise? Also do you guys recommend putting a stage 1 tune? As I heard this engine is very high stressed and this could lead to problems? I look forward to hearing from you current owners. Thanks

If you have no maintenance history, do oil/filter and brake fluid. Then obtain the maintenance booklet, if it didn't come with the car, to see when plugs, timing belt, or other major items are/were due. Air and cabin filters are fairly easy to check to see if they need replacing. Then have fun.

I do have the maintenance history, the spark plugs were never done on the car so far, brake fluid has been done a few times. and Oil was last done 3 months ago, for some reason the mileage wasn't mentioned. Thanks for your response ill try and obtain the maintenance booklet.

Modern spark plugs are typically good for 100,000 miles.

My wife has owned a 2021 gla45 since new and has only had to do service A with no issues. My research has stated the Gla45 is already tuned towards the top and I doubt you would gain much. Honestly , that thing hits through the gears pretty fast. We will not be tuning that at all. Spark plugs may want to be changed at 40k miles maybe? If I’m not mistaken AMG variants typically warrant quicker than base model fluids plugs etc depending how they’re driven.

Typically, the owner's manual will list when the spark plugs will need to be changed. It's more common these days that spark plugs get changed at 100,000 miles but check your owner's manual for the MB recommendation.

The owner's manual is the best place to check for MB's recommendation.

AMG GLA45
The 133 engine is easily and safely capable of 400 bhp. New Benzes that use it are essentially unchanged in major parts and some are listed 402 as stock. An add-on tuning box such as TDI claims more than that but they're probably optimistic. Plugs are not 100k for these cars as they are for others.40 is generally recommended for amg models.
