I bought this device from Amazon. It works so well that I even thought it is OEM. The only thing is that the head display won't show the navi for Carplay since it is recognized as a external bluetooth device. But anyway it is worth to use. It is tiny so you can fix it on the inner edge of the storage aera and no one will even notice its existence. So brilliant!
When I purchased my 2022 GLB, it had the same problem. It turned out the USB-C port on the console was defective and wouldn't maintain a connection. It was replaced under warranty. I also purchased from eBay a right angle USB-C to Lightning adapter which I hope will reduce the risk of strain/forces on the USB-B C port.
Here I am again.. I updated my carlinkit adapter with the Carlinkit 5.. way better than the old version I was using.. it is quicker and improvement on delay compare to the old unit I was using... I'm still having the issues with the USB-C port on the console... it was replace under warranty several months back but still it is flaky and sometimes over bumpy roads it just disconnect and also if I touch the cable. I'm going to buy a right angle USB-C to see if it doesn't disconnect that often. Also there is no great location to place the adapter... I'm using the wireless charger space for placing my adapter.. as my wireless charger is useless with my iphone 12.. it takes forever to charge the unit.
Now the other issue I'm having is that sometimes I need to charge my iPhone while it is wireless connected to the Carlinkit... I'm using the USB-C ports on the center console for it.. but as soon as I connect the cable the audio goes away... unplug the device from the USB-C port and audio comes back again while on Carplay.. is there a setting on the car to disable that behavior or a setting on the phone itself? It is not happening often as most of the time my phone is just in my pocket.. but for longer trips I need to charge it.
Any advise on Right Angle USB-C cables you guys/gals are using?

I use an Ottocast U2-Air adapter which works great. Connects almost immediately. I have a right angled adapter at the console and a short cable to the Ottocast. I used double sided tape to mount the adapter under the dash near the console. That way i still can use the wireless charging feature for the phone. Not sure I can answer your other issue of the music stopping when attaching the phone to another USB port.

That is the issue I'm having every time I connect the phone to another USB port while connected to the Carlinkit adapter.. Music stops playing via CarPlay. As soon as I unplug the cable .. music resumes over CarPlay (after manually hitting Play). Not sure if it is a setting on the car with the USB Media/etc. It happens to my iPhone 12 Pro and to my wife 12 Pro Max.
Can you pick up a wireless charging pad and use that to charge you phone? Not sure which iphones support wireless charging but I've done' that for android phones.

While using the Carlinkit 5 my phone is 90% of the time in my pocket.. but the other 10% I do need to charge it... so I usually used any other USB-C port available and at that point when connected... the music stops streaming through the wireless connection to the CarlinKit 5. If I unplugged the USB-C then it will resume no issues...

This USB interface should have data transmission function. When the phone is connected for charging, the car will play music through IPOD mode instead of carplay
I used Carlinkit 4.0 earlier with Android phone. There was slight delays when changing songs and sometimes have an audio cut randomly. Not sure if this is fixed with the Carlinkit 5.0.
I switched back to wired for now just to overcome these issues.

with carplay and wireless charging, it doesn't actually charge, and after a while iphone temperature goes up and nothing works..
It's a pity for such a car, but i also use wire to charge while on carplay
