Is the windshield on your GLB a bug magnet?

I can't remember having a vehicle where I've had more bug splatter on the windshield than on my GLB35. I most recently had an E-Class and I've have MLs and GLKs in the past, but I've never had this much bug debris on my windshield. Maybe it's due to the upright nature of the design? Anyone else notice this?

Not a bug magnet, but cracks magnet. I replaced second windshield for 3 month. Looks like it Mercedes design issue

No issues with bugs, however I leave in outskirts of a large city.

Just my experience, but C-Class and E-Class got fewer bugs than ML or GLK. Haven’t had the GLB in “love bug” season yet so there’s no real data for comparison yet.
The GLK was the absolute worst for windscreen rock damage.

MY GLB35 had an experience with lovebugs last September. We actually washed the car, the windshield, etc. because it was so bad.

Yes! In less the two years, I had a cracked windshield FIVE times! It’s getting ridiculous. I think it’s because of the upright design of the front windshield of the GLB250

Does anybody have a solution that doesn't look horrible? Is the carbra still a thing, haha? Living in the south I definitely do not look forward to this problem once mine is delivered.

Nope.
(Car bra causes more damage than the bugs)
Buy an inexpensive electric pressure washer for home.
Keep a box of dryer fabric softener sheets in the car for trips.

I work in an industrial area with lots of 18 wheelers. EVERYTHING hits this windshield! My husband had silicone put on the windshield to help with cracks. I had the car for 1 month, already had a massive rock crack filled by safelight. I have a feeling I won't even make it a year before having to replace the windshield.

Can you elaborate on the dryer sheets? As somebody who gave nearly zero farks about the finish of my car for 10 years I'm again freaking out with every noise I hear. I screamed like a schoolgirl the other day when something on the highway smacked the windshield.

My first thought is a dryer sheet would scratch the paint but is this some kinda special life hack or are they just for the glass?

Appreciate the response Odd Piggy! I'm thinking about wrapping the front end and maybe even hood and side pillars with XPEL film (probably until I see the price) but doesn't seem anything is going to save the glass from the inevitable cracks. I've been pretty good at repairing my own chips on the Lexus the last few years with the syringe kits. Once I had to replace that windshield due to a crackheads forehead I realized the actual heater element and sensors are inside the windshield for my Lexus and never wanted to go through that expensive repair again.

The dryer sheets are the anti-static fabric softener sheets that are thrown into a clothes dryer with a wet load. Buy the cheapest store brand.

As you know, bugs that remain on for more than a day or two can penetrate the paint and leave pits behind. Get the bugs off by washing if they are really fresh, like maybe 5-6 hours or less. If they’re too hard for that method, wet a dryer sheet in a small bowl and use it to rub the bugs off. Keep it very wet and use as many as needed. The dryer sheets contain some kind of chemical that will soften bugs that have been on a day or two and just coarse enough to rub them off without damaging the paint.

This hack was a well known thing when I drove to work 200-500 miles through agricultural land. The bugs would destroy the car finish if left on for the duration of the jobs.

I began using them on my ML350. I’ve used them on 4 of my Benzes and never noticed any paint damage from it BUT maybe you want to test the sheets on the inside of a door first to be sure. We’ve had platinum silver, midnight blue, and polar white colors, but never a metallic or a Designo finish. 194 white was not clear coated on older Benzes, but the midnight blue was and it was okay.

Good to know! Thanks so much for the info. I'm thinking of having my new GLB's front end covered in XPEL film for this reason. I haven't seen any quotes yet so we'll see if I pull the trigger or not. I plan on driving it from Atlanta to Michigan in a month or two so I'm sure it will get covered in bugs and hopefully not it's first paint chips or damage.

In 2 yeas I have replaced the front windshield glass of my Mercedes GLB250 FIVE TIMES! Already. And it’s always a flying small rock while driving on the highway. It must be the upright dynamic design of the vehicle.

It is not. It would be covered under your car insurance policy, as long as you have windshield coverage.
