FIRST POST
My 1st post here. Just got my wife a 2021 GLB. It was a dealer loaner with 10K miles. It's our 1st Mercedes so the learning curve is steep for us seniors.
A couple of questions I hope someone will take the time to answer. First off, I have a question about the proper oil spec to use. The manual doesn't recommend a specific weight of oil. No tags under the hood, or on the oil filler cap. It's the 1st time I've ever encountered this in my 57 years of owning cars. It shows a choice of 229.51, 229.52, 229.61, and 229.71. From what I can gather, they are different weights of oil.
We live in southern Ca. so the temperatures are more on the high side in the summer and winters are not extreme. I haven't decided if I'm going to change my own oil, but if I do what oil spec would you recommend?
2nd question, I've been trying to decipher the MBUX infotainment system. I saw a screen asking for the aspect ratio you want to set. I lost it somehow and can't find it again. Any idea how to get to it, and what size do you recommend setting it at? I think I saw a 16:9 and 21:9. Not sure where it is right now but with Apple carplay it's cutting off 1 icon that normally shows on my other car.

Below is the link to a YouTube video for someone changing oil on GLB. Looks like he is using 0w40 synthetic oil, although I read somewhere that in order to properly change oil on MB you need a special vacuum.

As far as MBUX, I never came across an aspect ration on the screen (I will try to look for it though). The only resolution I ever changed was on my phone inside Waze settings to 1080p. I would think that 16:9 ratio would make more sense. Keep in mind that neither CarPlay nor Android Auto take up the entire screen on MBUX.

Thanks for the reply. As far as the oil weight, I assume it has a lot to do with the region of the country where the vehicle is located.
I guess anyone of the specs listed in the manual is ok. Just trying to confirm that.

I do not believe the MB oil spec is just viscosity. Looks like it also based on the type of engine. Below is some write up, if you are interested.

I don't know if the owners manual for different Mecedes models, AMG included, with different engines list another set of spec's or matches the one's in the GLB manual.
Every other car I've owned has a specific oil weight listed for different temperatures.

Mercedes Benz oil viscosities are based on the lowest expected operating temperature. All approved oils are designated for service 86 F and above. Some operators' manuals, for example high performance AMG models, may limit what viscosities may be used. The GLB250 can use sheet 229.51, 229.52. 229.61, or 229.71 oils. There are higher viscosity oils in the other classes, particularly 229.51. If you do not have any low temperature concerns and are uncomfortable with a 20 weight oil for your temperatures, then any of the oils from any of these classes will be suitable. An oil with a higher viscosity may have some slight impact on the maximum fuel mileage that you experience. I have used Mercedes recommended oils and viscosities in my cars for decades with no complaints.

I bought a 2020 Audi Q3, Prestige trim about 15 months ago that I drive. They specify a 0w-20 with a VW508.00 spec. Just a learning curve on these German vehicles for me.

My best guess is, since you have factory Navigation it might be Nav settings that you have to explore. Otherwise explore your Carplay settings on your phone.

I went thought the settings in MBUX and could find aspect ration menu. I even looked in the "Dealer Mode", it's not there either.
My best guess is, since you have factory Navigation it might be Nav settings that you have to explore. Otherwise explore your Carplay settings on your phone.
