Interior and Exterior Protection

I finally picked up my 2022 GLB recently after almost a year of waiting for it…woohoo. I love my car. However, during financing, the dealership informed me that the Interior Exterior Protection plan was a required cost and they added it to the cost of the car. The kicker here is that they didn’t itemize the cost on the billing invoice and I was not provided details of what the plan includes. On Mercedes Benz website, it looks like it’s an optional plan. I contacted corporate about this and was told that it’s not a required purchase, but that dealerships are independently owned and they can operate as they choose. I requested in an email to the dealership that they send me details of the plan, including the cost.

While I wait on their response, anyone experience this? I am a little uneasy because it’s one thing to say a fee/charge is required, but to not itemize the charge on the invoice or provide details of the plan is another. Plus how am I to know that the dealership will honor any warranty claim I may have in the future? I did purchase the prepaid maintenance plan, which was itemized on the billing invoice and I was provided documentation of the plan at purchase. Thanks!

We bought our 2021 out of dealer stock. Exterior Protection protection + one other plan was required to make the deal. We added prepaid maintenance and dark window tint. However, they reduced the selling price by the cost of the exterior protection and tinted windows to the original deal plus the maintenance. Everything was itemized. I think I would insist on that.
