My new GLB 250 : suddenly slow on the freeway

Dear all,

I need help and input : On Sept. 9, 2022 around 10:45 PM, I drove om Freeway with stable 72 miles per hour of speed. My car was suddenly out of blue, from 72 to 33/32 miles ( I watched the display ) within in few seconds , , regardless, how hard that I pushed down the gas pedal , I couldn't accelerated the car's speed. It was killer moment. I was closed the shoe so that I had to immediately park on the side of freeway.

It was very late middle of night. I re-started/turned of engine car multiple times. I was able to drive out. I had the urgent appointment this morning as 9/12/2022 , my service advisor checked the car about 50 minutes, told me no error code for the car. He thought I was accidently pushed the switch of “steering wheel gearshift paddles”. That switch is the way behind the driving wheel, I did NOT touch it. I was told to drive the car to see if that would be occurred again.

The problem is I am so scared to get into my car to drive. The basically, this is new car, just had 695 miles on it that I got in June7, 2022. Suddenly slow down from 72 to 32 miles, on the freeway, it was extremely dangers. I could be killed on the freeway. I can’t drive now. Anyone else had the same problem for GLB 250 like mine?

What should I do?

Thank you for your input, stay safe.

Vivien

Contact the dealer. I haven't had that issue with my GLB, but my previous MB cars (AMG models) did what you described known as "limp mode" which is basically activated when you driver the car hard enough to overheat something like the oil or water temp. The dealer should be able to pull a code from your cars computer to see what caused that behavior.

Do you have the Driver Assistance Package? I remember the first time that activated for me… it scared the heck out of me. I was merging on to the freeway and my car slowed down and I felt like I lost control. I think it didn’t like that I had crossed over a solid line…

Its your driving assistant package. It matches with the speed limit. You can deactivate this feature. It freaked the hell out of me too
