There are more GLC300's on the market as it is an older model released in 2016 if you want to take your chance with the piston cracking engines: M274 Engine Causing You to Bail? 2020 model year updated the engines with GLC300...
Already GLB250 is 3 years old now and there are enough used inventory unless you go for GLB35...

And this might also be the reason why GLB35 is not that common as it is an AMG which means sporty and performance, which do not match a people hauler well.

My guess is that people buying GLB250 use it more or less as a people hauler and cargo mover and so people feel it under powered when it is so loaded.

Underpowered is an opinion. It’s not a C63 and wasn’t meant to be. We haul 5-7 regularly with school bags or sports equipment. Getting on 75 MPH Texas freeways is easy. The 8 DCT makes passing on 2 lane highways quick and a

GLB has plenty of power for daily city driving and weekend road trips. I can see this car being attractive for younger drivers with lead foot, and in that case it could "feel" underpowered.

In my area, the GLB is a hot commodity. Dealers can’t keep them in stock. There are many GLCs on the lots.
I guess the GLB appeals to a bigger market segment.
I have friends who have never driven anything except Toyotas, Hondas, Nissans, Kias, Hyundais test driving them and some buying.
One friend and long time Kia SUV owner tried the GLC and didn’t like it. Tried a GLB and bought it.
Go figure.
