Despite being connected to Android Auto wirelessly (I think), my 2024 GLB keeps showing an attempt to "Tether" to my phone - as a pop-up appears everytime I get in the car on my phone.
What's doing that? I think it only started recently (there was an MBUX update), but not sure.
I've tried "Allow" and "Deny" and don't see any difference in operation, but have not tested everything/conclusively. And shouldn't it remember if I "Allow" that's good for future requests?
What's the message? There's a prompt that comes up after pairing a phone that has the Mercedes me connect app installed, whether you wanna authorize the app for this car or not. If you say allow, then you can send navigation destinations from the app to the car via BT. As said, this prompt should only come up once per phone after pairing for the first time.
I don't think it's the app's prompt. I think I did that months ago, and as you said, that kind of prompt should only come up once. This seems to come up every time my phone connects to the car. And further, it only seems to have started recently...I've had the vehicle since January.
EDIT: I will say that when I went to browse around the app just now, it was logged-out. Wonder if that has anything to do with it. Will see...
I'll try and get a screenshot next time, if I'm able.
Oh, you get the message on your phone. MBUX can technically tether to a phone. Go to the communications manager and see if tethering is configured for some reason. It shouldn't attempt to tether out of the box, though.
Where is "Communications Manager"? I haven't come across that page/screen in MBUX.
I _did_ notice, however, that under under Known Internet it has a Data Plan (probably some trial I got with the car), and my phone is listed. Not sure how/why my car should be siphoning data from my phone without me asking for a hotspot or something (in which case I would just use the hotspot on my phone).
Settings >> System >> Internet and Bluetooth. That's where you can manage all your connections and hotspot settings. Make sure it's not configured to connect to an external hotspot.

Don’t go there unless you want to set up WiFi access for occupants of the GLB. The GLB becomes a wireless access point. It’s through Deutsch Telecom world wide and there’s no free trial.
