Heated door mirrors

With this current weather in the UK I thought a great time to test the heated door mirrors.
However ive noticed that the drivers mirror seems to be on all the time and passenger side is off, with nothing else on. There is nothing in the handbook, but on line it says heated mirrors come on when heated rear screen on, but my heated rear screen is off.
So when I switch on heated screen the passenger side still does not come on.
So have Mercedes changed it so that in normal weather mirrors are on and help clear any rain droplets, or when temperature drops they come on automatically?
Either way my passenger mirror does not come on so I could have a faulty heater element which I need to test.

Some have found that they have no passenger side heating element in their GLB. They may vary from region to region. I Where I live in SE Texas, I seldom experience condensation or frost on my door mirrors, so I have no direct experience.

I checked this morning and my US model mirrors heat immediately at 36F (2.5C) with no actuation of the rear element. For the other mirror, if your GLB is new, I suggest a call or visit to the dealership.

Ok checked this morning and car is indicating +4 and drivers mirror is warm and passenger is cold. So I need weather to warm up and check if driver side still comes on.

It sounds that your passenger side mirror heat may be faulty or missing. Maybe you could turn on the rear window (backlight) heater and see if the passenger mirror heats with it.

Ok I have checked mirror and at least I have a heated mirror, there is 12V on the wires when ignition is on. Anyone know what the resistance of the heater element should be?

The drivers side heated mirror is on all the time and is not reliant on the heated rear screen. Passenger mirror element has a resistance of 75ohms which I think is too high. I will replace and report back.

I don’t know the exact resistance for the mirrors, but I also think 75 ohms is too high. That would make the heater 3 Watts or less. I’m guessing but maybe 15 Watts is a reasonable estimate for the heater. That would be about 12 ohms resistance.

New mirror arrived and resistance is 11.5 ohms so i think thats the problem.
