2020 GLB Oil Leak

Hi everyone. I've had the 2020 GLB 250 for over a year now. It was a lease return, with 27K miles. I purchased it as a CPO. I have zero complaints so far. I have had some warranty work on it just before it expired in 12/2024.
And now I am noticing an oil leak. At first I wasn't able to figure out where it was coming from. Everything from the top of the engine is dry. When you look down on the splash guard from the top, you can see oil. I just had an
oil change done at the dealer today (2/17/2025). They said the oil leak is coming from the oil filter housing. The dealer is starting to notice these more. Is there a way to reach out to MB USA and put in a claim of some sort
to get this repaired. Dealership want $2000. I am more than capable of replacing it myself. I gave up the car repair game for a while now. I've always leased my cars and there for never had to do any maintenance. The GLB
is financed as a used car. Any extended warranty companies I can look into? Anyone have a good write up for the repair procedure? I mean it's self-explanatory but just want to make sure. Last thing I need is my car to be
down for weeks.

Am I missing something, why would they charge you 2000$ to replace the oil filter housing, isn't it something you just twist on?

2021 GLB250 FWD, 2023 GLA250 FWD, 2013 C250, 2015 GLK350, 2005 ML350SE, 2003 E320
We have 3 M260 engines in service right now (‘21 GLB250 & GLA250, ‘23 GLA250). None of them have an oil leak and all of them have more miles than you do.

Without casting doubt on the dealership, I would suggest popping off the splash guard and viewing the attachment point of the filter housing to the block to be certain that it is in fact leaking. The M271 was prone to leaks at the filter housing, so it may be. However, it’s very easy to drip oil onto the splash guard during filter removal on the GLB250.

If it is actually leaking and you can DIY, the housing and gasket look like they’re less than $90, so you’ll save a lot of money (even though I think the $2k price from the dealer is 3x what it should be).

Has your car had the head replaced yet? Any chance the oil leak may be tied to that work if it was done? Mine was in the shop for a month while they ordered, pulled, and replaced the head.

Check out my post and see if it is somewhat similar. I just scanned your post briefly. The oil housing is only a $100 part roughly, it’s the labor that gets it to that crazy price. I think I paid $1600 for my oil leak. Best of luck!

I’ve had my head done around 130k miles. What a pain.
