GLC deliveries on hold; December at earliest

While the EPA certainly had a lot to do with the delay of selling them to us mortal's, there would be nothing stopping them from selling two to themselves.
As far as I'm concerned, November 21st simply can't some soon enough. It just seems dumb to me to know thousands of GLC's are sitting at VPC centers across the US and they're not moving them out to dealers and into owners driveways. Dumb.

I don't think he's correct. The manager of the dealership I buy from, showed me the internal MB memo saying November 21st. For all our sake, I hope the internal memo I saw is more correct than your sales guy.

The sales report clearly states that those 2 GLCs were European delivery models. What that means exactly and why they reported it is beyond me. Please ignore it, means nothing.

I saw the internal memo from MBUSA saying release date November 21st. Another heard from their dealer it's December 15th. Your dealer says December 4th or 5th. I guess we'll see them when Mercedes released them and everything else is just rumor.
For me, it's very frustrating to know our GLC is built and has been sitting at the VPC in Brunswick, GA., for several weeks. Why MBUSA doesn't want to get them in the hands of customers, putting them on the roads of America, where people will see them and be drawn into a MB dealership because it's just so cool looking, is beyond me.
And it seems to me, though I could be wrong, timing them to be out just a couple weeks before Christmas is a poor move on their part. People are out shopping for nice gifts for sure, but $40,000+ gifts has to be somewhat limited at the holidays.

I don't think I trust any dealer when it comes to when they're being released by Mercedes in the US.

I think if your car is waiting in port, there is no problem from MB dealer, problem comes from MB Distributer. (we have had the same situation for our GLC for several weeks) Dealer only wants to sell as soon as possible. Make sure you will recieve your car before Christmas. Because they need to achieve their sales targets at the end of the year.

You would be completely wrong on that one lol. More people buy cars in December than in any other month. Mercedes will sell over 35K cars in December in the U.S. compared to an average month which is between 27-29K. They're introducing the car at exactly the right time when they have the most foot traffic at the dealerships. GLC sales are going to be HUGE. I would say at least 4K for the month of Dec if not more. If one dealer has 100 of them waiting is any indication then they could move about 5K for the month of December. Dealers here are all saying the same thing, MBUSA was stocking them every dealer would have plenty of stock for December's big sell off. I don't know if I buy the EPA rumor, these aren't diesels. VW cheated with their diesel, not gas engines. The GLC diesel doesn't arrive until the 2017 model year.

At a minimum, Mercedes could make a public statement stating the real release date. Maybe they think speculation and rumors sell cars?

Well, whatever reason they're holding them for is annoying to say the least. People have ordered cars, they're built, they're sitting out in the sun at VPC's across the country and if the EPA thing isn't fact, there's just no real reason, IMHO for Mercedes to keep them off the streets. I still say the sooner they move them into peoples garages, the sooner people will see them, and maybe, just maybe, they'll sell even more sooner.

A public statement? LOL, don't be ridiculous. I guess you don't have any idea how this works. All cars that are imported to the U.S. are held at ports all over the country for various reasons. Imported cars go through a pretty lengthy process before they're released to dealers. I don't know why you guys worry about such things, it really is irrelevant as what is going on behind the scenes. A 2-3 week delay isn't the end of the world.

And my dealer is also now confirming the GLC's aren't being released in November as was originally said. MBUSA's press releases had said November. Now they said it's going to be December.

The most accurate MB internal info at this moment - and franjkly there are no rock solid internal announcements - at this moemtn "maybe" release early/mid-December.
It is not a case of MB "holding back" - in large part - from what I understand - as a result of the the ever-expanding VW debacle - Federal authorities are now requiring much more extensive "testing" for all new model German cars - the GLC unfortunately has been caught in that cross-fire - even though the expected testing had been completed and passed - there's now more "testing" to be done...

OMG, guys it isn't the EPA!!!! Again, the VW problem was with diesel engines. Mercedes is holding the GLC in port to make sure they have sufficient units on hand to fully stock every dealer.

I seriously doubt that. The EPA is looking all German cars more closely now.
