This is Pirelli site. No info in Oz, not much in UK, no mention of MOE on either sites...

Im glad Mercedes is using a standard wheel given having special wheels would just add to your issues if you needed a tire on a road trip.

so it happened today, got a nail embedded on the rear left tire. Drove around for 2 days before the TPMS detected a dropping pressure... Probably due to carrying a full load in the car.
Tire centre (Jax) advised the tire was able to be repaired as the tire was never driven without pressure and due to the location of the nail, if it was elsewhere, could have been a different story.
In short $50 and 20 minutes was alot better than $470 for the replacement!

Hi davidX253,
Where did you get a quote for MB MOE Pirelli for $470. That's about $300 discount on my quotes ?
Thanks

When I bought my fifth wheel, my MB dealer had them for around $600 IIRC, and the spare parts guy gave me a small discount on that to offset the fact that the rim was more than he quoted me when it arrived. (This apparently is a "feature" of MB spares - volatile prices.) The toolkit also jumped in price from the quote.

Thanks, were these standard on delivery as MOE. Mine are Pirelli. Have not seen BRIDGESTONE on GLC before. 20" rims ?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Wise to get rid of the run flats immediately?
I'll be picking up my GLC this week and from everything I've read, the balance of opinion is that the disadvantages of run flats (noise, ride quality, cost, ease of replacement/repair, lifespan) outweighs the advantages (keeps you going for a short while after a flat).
Would it be wise to switch out the run flats right after getting the car? Is there any market for very slightly used tires?
I'm planning some road trips in the new car, and I'd rather not deal with the problem of having a flat a couple hundred miles from a big city and having to be towed to a MB dealer just to get a new tire.
Thoughts on this?
TIA

I've been driving on extended mobility tires since 1999. During that time have suffered two punctures. After making a visual check to ensure it was nothing more than a puncture, got back in the car and drove to the nearest tire shop where the tire was repaired.

I was astonished that M-B gives UK buyers no choice. You have to take whatever they have lying on the shelf in Bremen - generic runflats on the 20 inch and absolutely anything they fancy for smaller wheels, apparently. I've seen used GLCs with several different brands and styles, so no clues there. I wanted Pirelli All-Season MOEs for 18 inch wheels, offering to pay a little extra if necessary, and was told by M-B GB to wind my neck in - there is no facility for accommodating British buyer preference.
