Now that some of us are actually taking delivery of our long awaited GLC's, it would be great to see lot's of pictures of everyone's new babies.

Absolutely sweet!!!! Very nice! And, you did not get the memory settings for the front passenger seat, and the power controls are in the door! That is a bit of a surprise! Congratulations! Drive her in good health!

He's got the optional 14-way passenger seat.

Edit: Need more clarification here, but some GLC's seem to have memory on the door and some just have the adjustment on the door (passenger seat). Different markets maybe?

I don't think that is correct. When I ordered the optional 14-way passenger seats, it said on the Mercedes build website that it comes with memory seats. If you go there now and add them it still says that. It also will show a picture of 3 memory settings.

Not sure what I was thinking..you're right! I've even read that particular option 10 times over the last 2 months on MB.com. Maybe it was because I only saw a few pictures of the memory buttons on the door? :nix: There's some GLC's with the door memory, and some without. Just another thing that doesn't seem to make sense. :rolf:

I apologize for the terrible quality pictures here, but my wife's iPhone 6 was dead and I'm stilling using an old S3. Cold and rainy here in Columbus too.

Not my vehicle, we just stopped in to test drive the first GLC300 4Matic to show up at our local dealer. Interesting vehicle I suppose, but I was underwhelmed by the 4cyl. engine and disappointed with the road/wind noise. We're gonna sleep on it and decide what to do next with our order. :report:

Nope, they're the standard 18" Pirelli tires. They look really nice on the GLC.

Nope. That's not the 14 memory front seats. It's the standard front seat though and is plenty adjustable for me. The only adjustments missing are the front bolster extender and the headrest is manual. Otherwise, I'm really pleased to say it's pretty much the same adjustments available on the drivers seat.

To get the memory seat for the passenger on the door, you have to pay extra for it and it's $430.

I'm surprised you found the engine underwhelming. Were you driving the GLC in eco mode? In comfort or sport, the engine is to us fantastic.

Wow, that's great news. If you check the online configurator it doesn't show any door adjustment unless you opt for the memory option $430. The one I drove today must have been the same way then, plenty of adjustment IMO too. I love the look of the new door seat adjustments, esp. when paired with the beautiful burmester speaker covers.

Well, I'm a bit spoiled with the very smooth V6 in our GLK and IS350 I suppose. The new engine felt better matched to the lighter C300 I drove last month. There's plenty of power for a daily driving tasks, but it seemed awfully noisy to me. Transmission was pretty smooth, but this particular GLC had a very abrupt shift into 4th gear (sport+ mode). Auto start-stop worked well, adequate power in all modes other than Eco, which btw is terrible compared to those offered by other brands. You need almost 70% throttle just to maintain highway speeds and from a stand-still is borderline dangerous IMO. Comfort mode is perfect though.

I'm pretty sure I could write a full page review on my initial reactions, but I dont want to bore anyone! We're gonna go back next week for a second opinion too. Our local dealer has been fantastic thus far and I've been really impressed with the level of customer service we have received from the MB staff :y

This instrument cluster is very different - no chrome surround: I can't find a single picture on-line that looks like the instrument clusters in your photos.. Maybe that is the non sport package. Don't know but it is certainly different.

They don't recommend using Sport+ until after the engine has been 1000 miles, so I'm sure the shifting will get smoother over time. We're doing as recommended and driving in comfort for the first 1000 miles.

Ours is non-sport, but remember the MBUSA configurator tool isn't likely based on a production US car. Perhaps someone will post the dash of the sport model when someone gets one. We didn't feel sport was an option we wanted on this car. We did get the sport package on our C300 though.

We did not drive an X3. We were only considering the GLC. I did sit in a X3 last weekend at the Auto Show and to me, the interior is dated, whereas the GLC is fresh and modern.

It's sharp in the red but underwhelming in the white pics.

I think the surrounds may come with the stitched mbtex dash cover option.

I'm not so sure about that. I think it may be the way US destined GLC's are being built. The one at the car show last weekend, had a dash exactly as ours. But then I could certainly be wrong. On the MBUSA build a GLC, the dash has the dual binnacle's regardless of how it is optioned. Our car certainly doesn't have the two, nor did any of the ones being delivered by our dealer today. We saw 5 with exactly the same dash as ours. But I don't remember if any of them had the stitched dash or not.

First, congrats on your car, it looks great.

Hopefully I'll be able to settle the question on the dual binnacle when I receive mine as I've ordered with the stitched dash - the bad news is that I didn't hear from my dealer yet and will be traveling this week so the earliest I could get the car is next weekend.

I'll be curious (as I'm sure you are) if the stitching on the dash makes them use the dual binnacle's?

Another difference we noticed and no one at the dealer could explain is why the wheels on our GLC are different. Here's a picture of our wheels and on the sticker, they are R96 18" Wheels:

We actually like the wheels we got on our GLC, but do wonder why they're different?

Those wheels are quite nice. They almost look like the 19 inch wheels I ordered on my car.

Wow, that's very interesting. When I initially saw your pictures I thought you had the optional 18" wheels (+$500) but even those don't match the wheels on your actual GLC.

Pardon my language, but what the hell is going on here?! Can't MB.com match actual US cars? Some of these differences are less noticeable, but some (like your wheels and seat controls) are very easy to spot for a detail-oriented buyer. It just doesn't make any sense to me..:crazy:

Well, I just did a quick google search of the GLC250 and a picture came up with identical 18" wheels. Is it even fathomable that during assembly they put the incorrect wheels on?!! GLC250 wheels on a GLC300?

I'm also a bit baffled; take a look at these two reviews of US-spec GLC300. Both have cars with the sports package and both have stitched dashes. However, first video shows dual binnacle (see around 8:10), but the second does not (see around 4:10). So it's really unclear to me what is going on here, and I've been following the GLC launch closely in both the U.S. and Europe. Makes me wonder the MB have their act together.

(Btw, those 18" rims in the pic above are indeed common in European-spec GLCs. Unimaginable they put on the wrong wheels in the factory, but who knows...)

Looking at your pics, and the video of the GLC at Atlanta Classic Cars that also does not have the dual binnacles, against the pictures and video of GLCs that have them, I think the look is cleaner without. I REALLY hope that when take delivery of mine (this week?), it won't have them. BUT, I AM starting to regret that I did not include the dash stitching in my build. It's just a small regret that I am sure I will get over when I get inside the GLC for the first time...which is hopefully just days (and then, hopefully only a couple of days) away.

Thank you for finding this. I searched every US MB car to find these wheels and it never occurred to me to look at European models. Clearly they put the wrong wheels on our car. I'll be speaking with the dealer first thing in the morning about the mistake.

Whether it's unimaginable they could make such a mistake, I'm not sure. But when they built our car, it was clearly fitted with the wrong wheels.

Keep us updated rbrylaw! Hopefully the dealer can figure everything out.

I will. It's going in tomorrow for tinting, all season mats and a new nano coating they've just started offering that's supposed to eliminate waxing for up to 7 years. I'll certainly be poining out we got the wrong wheels and I think we've decided they need to give us the wheels it should have come with to begin with.

I ordered a GLE in Cardinal red. I think it looks so sporty with the chrome and black trim. It looks great on your car and I hope mine looks just as good.

Maybe those are standard wheels for non-4matic cars, and the website configurator doesn't reflect that? I'd look at the DOG.

Mystery solved on the wheels. The wheels we got are a no charge optional wheel. They are not the 4Matic wheel, but when dealers order the cars and option them, the wheel we got is one of the options they can select. Since we didn't order the car from the beginning, but it was ordered with the options we wanted, it never occurred to us there would be another wheel option the dealer could select. But there is, so it's the wheel we have. We're OK with the wheel, even though we would have preferred the other one.

In fact, our dealer had two GLC's sitting side by side this morning. Both are GLC300 (not 4Matic). One has the wheel we thought we were getting and the other one has the optional wheel we got.

I think the wheel you got looks better than the other one. Congrats on the car.

Nice to have this mystery solved. So that means then there are two different 18" wheel options (or possibly more?).

You are correct. The wheels on our GLC are the R96. We had no idea this was an option as we expected the R31. I personally like the R31 wheels better, but the R96 aren't bad looking by any stretch of the imagination.

The bottom line for us is our car came as the dealer ordered, so we've got the R96 wheels and that's that. I don't know if there are any other no charge options one can get on the GLC300.

The GLC is at the dealer today as is my C300 Sport. The GLC is getting windows tinted with clear nano ceramic film. I have this on my C300 and it doesn't darken anything, you can not feel any heat from the sun while driving, which I like a lot. And they are putting a new product on both cars called Resistall. It's a nano protection system that comes with a 7 year warranty and is applied inside and out. It's guaranteed for 7 years and supposedly means the cars will not need to be waxed for 7 years. They provide a box of touch up spray one can use if you want to add any more protection. I hope it's as they say it is. They just started offering this product. The good news for us, we didn't pay anything for this on both cars.

The ceramic coating is a great idea, similar protection to Opti-coat I believe. Car protection and detailing must be nearly a billion dollar industry now! Film and coating costs are outrageous these days. The things we do for cars :p:

The 2016 Build Guide the dealers have shows the R96 wheel as an option. I guess that's how they wound up on our build. The MBUSA site doesn't show them.

I just picked up my car. The nano coating on the car is fantastic and the Cranberry Red leather is even a deeper more beautiful color since they applied the protection. It's not shiny like Armor All, thankfully.

BTW, they ordered and installed the GLC300 All Weather Mats in the car. They're really really nice and fit perfectly since they are specific to the GLC.

I went to Park Place Dallas today where I ordered my GLC. One of the cars they received has chrome binacles. The rest do not. The only difference in this car was it had the interior package with Leather.

Evidently that's what gets you the Chrome Binnacles. You have to get the Interior Package with Leather. They're nice and all, but for a SUV, we really didn't want leather, so we can easily live without the Binnacles in our GLC.

Can you post the 2016 build guide?

I wish the GLC had the black / red leather interior as an option. Maybe for 2016 or the GLC 450. *fingers crossed*

Rbrylaw, your C300 Sport looks great! That will most likely be my replacement vehicle come June 2016 :D

That brown leather looks excellent! Can't go wrong with any of these combinations IMO. Frosty, I suspect the red/black interior will show up in the GLC450 too. Hopefully the coupe and V6TT show up soon!!

The brown leather is gorgeous on the car I looked at today. I have ordered it on my car that is to be built in January:)

I've had my C300 Sport for about 4 weeks now and driving home tonight, I was thinking how much fun it is to drive.

I like the espresso interior as well, but I could do without a brown steering wheel (and column!). I wish they allowed you to keep the black wheel entirely. As it is, the brown wheel just pushes the whole thing into "too much brown" territory.

Just picked it up from the dealer.

My GLC has the chrome Binnacles. (It has the sport package, but does NOT have leather or the interior package.)

it also has the multi-function chrome seat controls on the passenger door side, just with no memory.

The 19 inch amg wheels are very nice. They are kind of a chrome-ish, metallic light grey.. they reflect the light and pop. Especially against the black body. Break disks also look bigger and are perforated in the front with large perforated grey calipers that read mercedes benz.

Car rides great, and much more sporty and nimble than my e350. And I am sure this will only get better as the engine, transmission and tires all break in.

MB-text looks very nice in black. Drivers seat has a thigh extension piece that I did not expect. Top stitched dash and doors very nicely done. it was the first thing my daughter noticed. Linden wood is darker (actually its dark), but beautiful. And looks like wood, not a copy.

I have the air suspension. Very tight. Zero body roll, squat or dive no matter how hard you push. A quick jerk of the wheel for a lane change and it just moves to the right, no mushiness or delay or push. very little, in fact no, understeer as well. Sport is very stiff (have not tried sport+ yet). Comfort is smooth, but still stiff for sure. This car is not meant for some one who likes not to feel any bumps. it is European firm for sure.

I agree with the above.. very powerful engine. Car feels light and jumps. Like the engine is not even straining. I have yet to push the pedal more than 1/2 way and it moves. very smooth and refined as well.

Also, i like the exterior lighting.. small touch but when you unlock the car, lights comes on under the mirrors to light the ground. And all four door handles have lights (facing inwards i guess) that cause the handle wells to all glow white.

Burm stereo is good, though not stellar. there are some controls that helped.. more treble and a bit more mid range seemed to make a big difference

The funky touch pad thing seems like more of a gimmick. right now its actually pretty annoying. but i am going to give it some more time :)

Ok, this is probably the worst quality pic on this site. Dark, raining, spotlight on. But.. it still looks pretty nice :)

Congratulations! So now we can surmise the following:

• With either sport package or interior package one can expect the chrome clad binnacles.
• All GLC's will have power adjustable front passenger seats standard, but if one wants memory, it's a $430 option.
• Every GLC will have the adjustable thigh support standard on the drivers side.

I didn't use the touch pad on my C much at first. Once you get the hang of it though, it's actually useful. That said, with the Multi-Media package, Voice Command accomplishes a lot of useful things simply by pushing a button on the steering wheel and speaking a command.

I think the Burmester is a great system, and having the equalizer let's you adjust it to your personal tastes.

I don't think this is correct, unfortunately. The video from Atlanta (see above) has the sport package but not the chrome binnacles.

I am now thinking it's the Lighting package that triggers the binnacles, as that seems to be the common denominator.

You could be right, but that's an odd trigger, don't you think?

Oh yes, I'm baffled. Also a bit annoyed; the configurator only shows the chrome binnacles, and the ordering guide never had any info suggesting different options here (btw, I will pick up my car next week).

If you saw my edit above, it's not the lighting package either.

I just saw that; very interesting. Now I don't see any consistency.

My car will have the sports package (I'm a bit bummed the US spec has a different front spoiler; I like the non-US version better) but not the interior or lighting...

Look at your order for your car. See if says exclusive interior. On the cars for the EU it gives you the chrome binnacles. The base cars do not have them in the EU. I found this on the MB Ireland website.

My build sheet did not say exclusive interior and I don't think there's any mention of this as an option in the MBUSA website. It would be nice to know what prompts a car to include the binnacles or not. Ours doesn't have them, and to my eyes, it's fine looking. It doesn't bother me either way, to be honest.

I have chrome binnacles. (The only packages I did NOT get was Interior Package, night package, and Leather)

I got a 4MATIC. maybe that's it?

As more and more get their GLC's we'll be able to figure this out. Right now, it's really a mystery. Seems odd that adding 4Matic would get interior binnacles, but then stranger things have happened.

I looked through a bunch of pictures of GLC 4MATICs available at cars.com, and none of them had the chrome binnacles. In fact, I couldn't find a single one that did.

Any of those have driver assist package? In the videos above the red one above has it. The grey one does not. (you can tell by the much larger hunk of plastic behind the rear view mirror. I have Drivers Assist.

Interesting. It seems none of the ones I looked at (cars.com) has Driver Assist...

... which, btw, I have in my order that I'll pick up next week.

And so the mystery continues. It can't be whim at the time of build that some come with binnacles and some do not. There must be something that makes one GLC get them vs another not getting them. And if you go to MBUSA to build a GLC, the photo's are not a US spec GLC. And all options show the binnacles. So there's no help to be had there.

We've ruled out:

Interior Package
Leather
4Matic
Sport Package
Drivers Assist
Multi-Media Package

What else could there be?

I haven't ruled out Drivers Assist, quite the contrary based on JSandro's comment (or I may have missed something)

Yeah.. i think that could be it.

BTW - drivers assist will blow your mind. The car literally drives itself - in stop and go, and on the highway. Steering wheel turns etc.. amazing even around sweeping turns. Its a very odd feeling at first !

You didn't miss something. I did. I misread his comment. It would be amazing if it's drivers assist that spawns binnacles. I can't imagine why that would be the case though.......

So, my dealer got one GLC for the showroom over the weekend and I checked it out Monday (while still waiting for my "ship to come in"). The GLC they have is 4Matic, not leather interior, no driver assist, and did not have the chrome binnacles. By the way, it also had the R96 wheels (not the ones that are on the configurator). And yes, it was bigger in person than I thought. Perfect cabin space and headroom. Wow, I am so excited for when mine comes in.

I am sure more people will get their GLCs before me, but when I get mine (this month), I'll update this thread. I got 4Matic and driver assist (and other options)....did not get sport package, no leather.

Also, the GLC crash test video on another thread was amazing! I hope I never put my GLC to those tests in real life, but will feel nice and secure when driving it! :-)

The car I drove that had binacles had park assist but no drive assist. It had leather and interior package. It also had command and premium as well as led. It was a 2 wheel drive. Non sport model.

My build sheet says exculsive interior. So, maybe when I get my GLC it will have them?

That's interesting. You probably will get the binnacles.

I wouldn't personally get worked up if you don't. I didn't even notice we didn't have them until someone on this forum pointed it out from pictures I posted of our GLC. And the one large binnacle is actually cleaner looking to me. But the best news is the GLC is my partners car and he could care less. Whew! If it bothered him, I'd have a problem.

Plus he got the R96 wheels, not the wheels on the website and he likes them too. But they're actually very nice looking wheels in their own right.

What is the exact build of your car? Mine also has exclusive interior. I have ordered it with everything but sport and night package.

But, doesn't the word "binnacles" belong with the word "barnacles"? A nautical or maritime sort of thing?

I think the word "bezel" might be more appropriate for this discussion :)

Binnacle according to Wiki:

A binnacle is a waist-high case or stand on the deck of a ship, generally mounted in front of the helmsman, in which navigational instruments are placed for easy and quick reference as well as to protect the delicate instruments. Its traditional purpose was to hold the ship's magnetic compass, mounted in gimbals to keep it level while the ship pitched and rolled. A binnacle may be subdivided into sections and its contents typically include one or more compasses and an oil lamp or other light source. Other devices such as a sand timer for estimating speed may have been stored in the binnacle as well.

I think I cracked the mystery. After visiting my dealer's lot this morning, it appears that all GLC's with the top stitched dashes have the binnacles. That is included with the interior package only I believe.

Thanks rbrylaw. You also! It was a bit of a crap-shoot buying sight unseen but I needed a mid/small SUV and I am very pleased with the choice and how it all came out.

P22 build code exclusive interior gives you the chrome surround/binacles.

If you mean the exclusive Nappa leather, yes. It is $1450 extra and requires the interior package. The interior package used to be listed at $2500. Then they removed the top-stitched trim($650) and reduced the price to $1850. But, if you order the interior package you must also order the top-stitched trim. Same difference. On the other hand, if you order the top-stitched trim, you must order the interior package. Back to $2500. So, to get exclusive Nappa leather, it will cost a total of $3950.

I do not know if their is a cost but what I have found is every car with the chrome binacles has that code irregardless of whether they had the interior package/leather.

Thanks, but that wasn't what I was trying to learn. I know the leather and interior package is additional cost. What we've been trying to figure out is what prompts some cars to get the dual binnacles or not and if there's a cost for them.

I would think on someone's build sheet it would show what, if any cost the dual binnacles would be if they have the "Exclusive Interior" option.

It's still a mystery to me why some GLC's have them and some don't.

I have exclusive package p22 on my build sheet. No charge listed. If you go to other Mercedes sites for example Australia there is Build pdf that has an exclusive package that includes the p22 code for the binacles. It is used in cars with certain leather interiors.

And the mystery continues. If your build did not include P22 Exclusive Interior, yet you have the Binnacles, what does prompt some to get Binnacles and others to not get Binnacles?

Does GLC have pre-wired Garmin Map Pilot?

The dash stitching on the dashboard that's also included in the Sport Package? I got the Sport Package but it did not include P22. Will be picking my car up tomorrow so I can report on what's included!

It will be interesting to see what your car has. I'm not sure why this has to be so hard to figure out? Mercedes would be doing customers a favor if there was something on the Build Configuration tool that made this simple to know.

Adding to the confusion, yesterday I found GLC300's with the flat-bottom steering wheel, matching "standard" 18" wheels (rbrylaw), and the same 20" wheels available in Europe. I officially give up trying to figure things out.

-Black accented 20" wheels (MB configurator)
-Grey/silver 20" wheels
-Silver 18" "standard" wheels
-Flat-bottom steering wheel (designo package too)

I was under the impression that the flat-bottom steering wheel and grey 20" wheels were unavailable in the US market. :wall:

Maybe these puppies are just so new that on the manufacturing line in Bremen, they're just improvising as they go down the line. :nix:

I contacted my sales rep at my dealer. He contacted someone at MBUSA. All he found out was that the binacles were included in the interior package.

That just doesn't make sense. I've seen GLC's without the interior package in the US that had the Binnacles. I don't think they gave your sales rep accurate information.

I agree. I have had no luck figuring it out. The only cars I have seen with it have had a p22 in their build.

In Durham, NC visiting my son. Went by Mercedes dealer. Had a GLC with launch edition on the side of it. It also had Saddle brown leather which I have not seen available in the US.

That might explain some of the differences we're seeing here. MotoMan replied to my comment (GLC300 review video on youtube) saying MB specifically optioned the GLC used in that review. Maybe they're dealing with supply shortages by offering "launch editions" here in the US. Who knows.

I bet it's as simple as early builds did not have the binnacles .. And that after a certain date all GLC s will have them. My build according to the last 5 digits of the vin was 38 thousand and change. .

That's certainly possible, but I'm not sure I buy it. With likely millions of C class cars and every single one of them built with binnacles, I'd say they had plenty on hand for the GLC. One can assume the parts are the same on the C as they are on the GLC.

New here and have been look on this forum for some info.
So I was just at the dealer today to work on my order. And he said that the Sport Package/Night Package gets the binnacles. As you can see on jsandro car has it and you can tell he has the 2 front bottom side air intakes they have the 2 grilles on it and the mesh behind it . Not like rbrbylaw that only the mesh grille.
Only way to be sure is to compare glc to glc when the dealers have a few on the lots.

Also new to MB what are some of the must haves in the car.

Sorry, but I've seen several GLC300 without the Sport Package that had the Binnacles. Sales people are notoriously under-informed. Now that doesn't mean that you won't get binnacles with the Sport Package, but it's not the Sport Package that makes the difference.

For me, the must haves are Multi-Media and Burmester Sound System.

The vehicle above is a non US model (250d). Unable to a certain if it will be equipped same way as US model.

Went to drive the GLC I ordered yesterday, Sport Package with no Binnacles!

So I emailed my salesman and told him that I will not be placing and order until he finds out what option to get the Binnacles. Got a quick response and he will be looking into it. To be continued.

Someday, we may know what puts binnacles in a GLC, but nobody has cracked the code yet.

The good news for us is we don't have them in our GLC and it's just fine. The dash without them looks just fine. It's actually nice and uncluttered.

Every car with interior package has binacles.

ahhh. But i do not have interior package. Maybe they just screwed mine up and gave me the binnacle by accident :)

btw - i bet there will be a bunch of mid-year model changes on this car to the builds and options and packages.

Doubtful they gave them to you just because........

Congrats! I also ordered HUD. Have you noticed on your HUD, if you are able to see and control radio stations through it? Also, if speed limit sign information is on it too? I have watched Mercedes HUD videos, but it is not look like that is available. I have HUD on my BMW and displays both of us, which is really nice.

Also curious, all you new GLC owners, what has your gas mileage been like? I have not seen anyone post mpg yet.

I got an update from my dealer that my GLC is on a ship, should dock at Brunswick, GA early next week and the ETA for me to take delivery is Saturday 12/19! :-) I also asked if there was any rhyme or reason as to why some GLCs have the dual chrome binnacles and some do not; his suspicion was that it would be an anomaly from early production owing to two different parts suppliers that would most likely have been caught by quality control or something, but it would be anyone's guess for now whether the dual binnacles are standard or not. So far, none of the GLCs that the dealer got for the lot had the dual binnacles. So there is that. Anyway, I am super excited to have an idea of a date now. Just a bit more than a week before I post my GLC pictures on here! :-)

I have been to several dealers and looked at several cars on line. All the cars that have had chrome binacles have exclusive interior/interior package on their orders. It seems that this is the only configuration that guarantees them. My salesman has confirmed this with a rep from MBUSA. Thanks, Jeff:

This is my wife ride , I have only been in it a few times in the last week so I cannot remember what you can do with the heads up display . You can shut it off quickly on the dash there is a button on the left side . The Vehicle is extremely quite , Much faster than we expected . I am a auto dealer & sell allot of the previous models and they are very fast off the line . The Lighting is spectacular , Very bright , really wide & long reaching.
After getting back into the 14's this feels so modernized . I think it is going to be a big hit !!!!!

I saw my GLC300 4Matic today at the dealer (for the first time!): It has the chrome binnacles. FWIW, it does not have the interior/premium/lighting package, but it does have the Sport package and Driver's Assist.

If it's random who gets the chrome binnacles, I must say I feel lucky as they do look great... but anyways, what's more important, the car just feels so solid and awesome throughout!

After reviewing the northeast GLC inventory, it seems the binnacles are included either with the sport package or the interior package. The binnacles are paired with the MB Tex top stitched dash which is included with those packages.

Got our GLC today... coming from a 2002 C240, can't describe how much we appreciate the car, it simply out last all of our expectation. The real car looks much better than in pictures... this simply the sexiest compact/mid SUV around, my previous favorite was Macan and GLK.:)
My wife was super happy as the car is getting so much attention.

I don't see the flat bottom steering wheel as an option either? It doesn't show in the image when the designo is added nor is it mentioned. Would love to have that.

I don't think the flat bottom steering wheel is an option on the GLC300, at all. Truth be told, I have it on my C300 Sport and while it is really nice looking and all, it's actually odd feeling when you turn the wheel. Maybe it's just me, but other than looks, I haven't quite figured out what's better about a flat bottom steering wheel?

It makes ingress/egress a bit easier if you are the larger variety of human :)

Speaking of which, my dealer sales guy seemed to think that the steering column will auto retract and raise when turning off the car to facilitate entry/exit but I didn't see the car do that at all. Can anyone confirm? My X6 has this and it's a really nice feature.

Hmmm...that seems wrong. My X6 raises (if not at the top already) and retracts when the car is shut off and when you start the car, it returns to the previous position which typically means it extends and lowers.

The steering wheel can indeed move up when you turn off the car. It's a setting you can turn on or off. I don't use it. I'm not [yet] too large to get in or out of my car with the steering wheel in place.

I only have issues in the winter when I'm wearing a large coat. Always seems to get caught up on the steering wheel.

Did you stick with the cancelled order from someone else, or is this your own build? If this was your build, it may have been on the same ship as mine (but mine had some additional ports to stop at before getting to Brunswick, GA which should have been 15Dec). Thanks! It was a cancelled order. But it has the colour, interior and most options we wanted. The only thing we didn't get is heated steering and upgraded audio.
We love Diamond Silver, White and grey colour, and the satin black ash trim interior. We live in Toronto, the SUV was shipped from halifax.
The colour surprised us, as we saw the Diamond Silver SLK at dealership, was also nice but not as stunning as this one, it may have something to do with the scale of the car.

Looks great. I wanted the running boards but the wife doesn't like them because it makes for a wider step in which is a problem when she wears certain skirts. :/ I acquiesced but I still have time to modify the order :)

The flat bottom steering wheel DEFINITELY comes with the Designo Platinum White/Black Nappa interior package (we have one). It DOES NOT come with the Designo Black Nappa package. When we configured our car in June when orders opened, we had the same question and I called MBUSA in Englewood. The customer service agent called corporate in Germany and was told that the DOG photos were pre-production and not to expect it in the US market. Fortunately, that information was wrong. My guess is that a designer specifically spec'd that wheel with the White/Black package (and the black open pore ash, but only on the center stack, not the doors), because they liked the look.

The one we test drove didn't have those guage cluster things either. I just figured it was something they put on after the sale because it was something that is at risk for being stolen. Like lexus removes the knob from the shifter.

No, they don't put the binnacles on after the sale. A GLC either comes with them or doesn't. But what exact option makes them included in the build is still a mystery. At least to me it is.

Hi I'm new to this forum but been reading for a few weeks now.

Just about to order a new glc in the UK your wheels are the ones which if I order have to come with the off road pack which raises the height of the car , is it the same on your spec and if so can you notice the difference ? because i'm thinking unless they make the wheels bigger then there must be a larger gap between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch.
BTW I want beige interior so I cant order the AMG because in the UK it only has black interior so it has to be the @sport @ model.

The problem with a beige interior is that denim jeans turn the beige a shade of blue. Darker interiors are easier to live with. Your call.

After a long delay, my wife's car finally arrived. We placed a deposit on Oct 24 and the car arrived this Tuesday, Jan 5. I'll give the details on what happened and the final negotiation on the deals thread but here are the pictures.

Not to be a creep or anything, but I recognized that you bought your car at Mercedes White Plains and was wondering what your experience was. I bought my ML and my old E350 there and had a good experience there (except the manager who was dealing with my trade-in was very rude). I get my car serviced at their partner dealership, Mercedes of New Rochelle, and find it to be a horrific experience every time. I just wanted to know if you experienced anything similar to this in your visits.

You are absolutely right. It was MB White Plains.
My purchase experience was actually really good. The sales lady and her manager were respectful despite long and hard negotiations. But probably it was the year-end thing that they had to make a sale.

I don't live nearby, so am not even sure if I will bring the GLC there for service. I may find a closer dealer in the Queens/Long Island area.

FWIW the MB Canada "GLK configurator" just shows a dark, empty space where the binnacle would be when you build a car online- so there seems to be no way, shape or form of telling what will show up in that space based on whatever features or options you either add or delete. So the mystery continues.

BTW this "pictures thread" sure has degenerated into the "binnacle mystery thread" in many ways; I sure hope as people continue to get their cars, more images show up here.

There's a separate thread I started regarding the binnacle mystery, as it had become apparent the picture thread was starting to have too many posts regarding this topic. We just picked up our GLC 250 earlier this week!

Specs as follows:

• Selenite grey metallic
• Vision package (panoramic sunroof, heads-up display)
• Seat comfort package (memory seats, front seat heating)
• COMAND package (COMAND Online, Burmester sound system)

In Australia, the standard equipment for the car also includes the following, which I understand are optional in some other markets:

• Lighting package (LED Intelligent Light System, etc.)
• Aluminum running boards
• Open-pore black ash wood interior trim
• Black leather interior
• Interior lighting (door sills, multicolor ambient lighting)
• Keyless-Go
• Lots of chrome bits externally
• 20" wheels
• All the assistance systems (blind spot, active parking assist, active lane keeping, Distronic Plus with steering assist, etc.)

Thanks everyone! Couldn't be happier with it so far. It looks beautiful and drives great (and in the US you get is as a 300, not a 250, so I can only imagine it's even better for you guys).

The weather was good so we went for a pretty long drive to help get us through the break-in period.

Maybe I am more surprised than most drivers as my previous ML was practically ancient at this point (2002), but the technology in this car is blowing me away.

We got stuck in stop & go traffic coming back into Melbourne from a country drive, and I had the Distronic & steering assist on. For 20+ minutes, the car basically drove itself with no manual brake or accelerator required, and kept to its lane perfectly while my hands were on the steering wheel. Almost felt like magic.

Love the running boards...makes it look a little more stout. My wife nixed them as on my X6 she complains about trying to enter the car with a skirt on. Apparently, it makes the step in a bit wider (I'm tall so don't notice). There weren't any models with running boards at the MB dealer for use to check out to see if she has the same issue so we just went without them.

Your timeframe sounds pretty good. Earlier I had predicted a later delivery for you, but I had forgotten to consider that all my experiences have been through European Delivery. I think there is a far greater chance in ED deliveries get "hung up" at the VPC as they convert some Euro features to U.S. specs, and make repairs to the car. Also, there's that chance with ED that customs might pluck your car out for a detailed inspection. In your case you should soon be "good to go!" I'm looking forward to the photos, especially of the Espresso Brown/Black interior! :y

Saw a GLC at the auto expo in town today. I was so happy that the one they had was selenite gray with the sport/night package - exactly what mine will look like. It looked AWESOME. There were a lot of people around it the whole time...seemed pretty popular. I'll post some pics I took tomorrow.
The interior was dark brown and black...I didn't much care for the combo.

Those are two really different browns, but I can be happy with either, or with a brown anywhere in between.

Our cars will be dark brown. The lighter brown is saddle brown and is not available for cars in the US except the launch edition cars which have a polar white exterior/saddle brown and black interior. If you want to see that interior Park Place dealerships in DFW have several on their website. Interior code 234 rather than 224. Price 52105.00. My car has Linden wood.

It's a black 250d but in certain light, it seems to have a slight blue tinge to it.

In Australia, we get standard 20" wheels with the 250d as well as all the safety features and standard leather interior. Australian GLC models all have the ambient lighting and the Intelligent Lighting System too.

We've optioned it up with the Vision Package (Head Up Display and Panoramic Sunroof), COMAND Package (COMAND Online and Burmester Sound System) and the Seat Comfort Package (Electric Seats, Electric Steering Wheel Column, Heated Seats).

Absolutely loving it so far!

Hi, all. Picked mine up Saturday.

Only regret I have is that the lighting package was not available at time of order and I was in a crunch since my previous car had been totaled in a rear end accident. I was left driving our spare SUV (the Ford Expedition you see in the background). So it was either go without the lighting and get the GLC in the normal ordering time frame or wait an extra month for the lights. If I was still driving my regular car I would have waited but that old Expedition isn't really in the best shape to be an everyday car.

We have had our GLC for a week and it has been fantastic. Unfortunately, I have only driven it once. I have been on call for a week. Hopefully, over the next few days I will be able to take some decent pictures and post them. Sorry for the delay.

Actually, I do have a second regret and it's also related to having to order early, and that is that I couldn't time it with a vacation for European delivery.

It's not the running boards, it's the combination of ride height which is must lower in euro spec and the front bumper which has the lip run the entire length,

For some reason MBUSA decided to jack up the ride height and destory front end proportions with the lip because it thinks Americans are going to take a 50k entry level luxury suv off road and need all the clearance.

You can thank the US Federal Government for the required departure angles and increased ground clearance of our GLC. The GLC is classified as a light truck and is subject to less stringent emissions, fuel economy, and other regulations within the US. Additionally, they wouldn't have been able to market the vehicle as a true Sport Utility Vehicle.

I can assure you Daimler would have preferred to build just one AMG sport bumper for the entire globe...

No AMG badge on the body work I'm afraid.
This only appears on the alloys and carpet mats.
Even so the spec level does make the car meaner in appearance.

I was also going to order the same interior.. Are you in the U.S? I was told that it comes with aluminum when I tried to order the open pore ash for the center console.. It wouldn't allow it to the order as a stand alone add on.

So looking at your picture.. If you are in the US... What center console is that the black shiny one? Or does it indeed come with the black ash open pore??

Yes, I'm in the US. It appears that for the US version, if you order the Designo Platinum interior, you will get the aluminum trim on the sides while the center console is the open pore ash - it doesn't show up that clearly in my picture due to lighting/camera quality, but that is what it is. Hope that helps!

US LEDs look different due to the US requirement for Amber reflector. I do not know if there is functional differences. US systems are suppose to be intelligent system/adaptive with cornering same as Europe. Maybe some one else can chime in.

Finally someone else got the designo white interior. Looks awesome.

Greg yes it's amazing but I'm still missing the sound of the Sub that comes from the back of the car. I'm thinking of installing an additional subwoofer in the back. Either under one of the back seats or back trunk area, but I don't want to kill my space back there... so maybe even a small one to go under where the spare tire used to be.. Since its room down there for small flat box too.

Honestly this car looks so much better in person compared to pics and I'm glad the rims go with it.. Only seen pics in white and red so I took a gamble with Selenite but it paid off.

Did you get the Desino interior? I can't see the seats in the pics.

Now that you mention that.. I didn't get it because they had told me that it would take an extra month or so for the car to come...

And now I'm wondering if that had any part in your delay.. That it didn't take off until a month after mine when ours had same production week.

But I got the all black inside. I wanted the white and black.. But when he mentioned that delay I didn't want to wait.

No, my car was finished and sitting at port by March 1st. However, it did increase the lead time so I ordered in Dec and it wasn't built until end of Feb which was later than if I had not done the designo.

Yeah you right... Well good thing is your car is on the ship and you should have it within weeks

The lighting on this car is just amazing. So is the quality of the materials and the detail work.

I note that some cars have a small orange indicator/turn signal on the front headlight (close to wheel arch). Are all US cars fitted with this and does the 'eyebrow' light also flash amber when signal is operated?

Those are the upgraded LED headlights. and the 'eyebrow' does flash amber with the turn signal.

So what does the upgraded LED lights get you?

LED headlights and full LED tail lights. The headlights automatically adjust the beam of light for the best visibility. They turn with you in a slight curve and they have built in cornering lights when you go to make a turn. They come on with the turn of the wheel or when you activate the turn signal. Plus the daytime running lights are the 'eyebrow' type.

MITCH, I have all those on my GLC... but I don't have the amber section on my headlight as described in my post #323!!

The reason you do not have the amber section on your units is because the amber portion is required for the US DOT.

I considered telling the dealer to not drill the front plates but i can't figure out a way to mount the plate while maintaining the perfect symmetry...yeah i'm a lil ocd like that lol

Jason, those are the standard (non-upgraded) wheels for all GLC 300 4M's in Canada. Did you order different rims? And doesn't the open pore wood cost 250$ more than the high gloss ones? I hope the dealer refunded you on this.

Nonetheless, looks smart! I ended up getting the same colour combination with the same rims!

back in December i was shown the choice between the 20 spoke amg rims and stock rims that looked like this

and i chose the stock rims. yes the open pore cost $250 more which i was willing to pay for but the salesman entered gloss trim instead of open pore trim even though i told him i wanted open pore. the sales person that ordered my GLC for me was Mark o'mahony he was fired from lexus before MB and has since been fired from MB too so if you see him at any other car dealer around town steer far far away!

Those rims are also AMG styling rims. The rims appear to be listed as $0.00 but to get them, you have to have the "Sport Styling Package". It's an extra $1500 for that package. The 20 spoke rims require several packages and an extra $500 on top. I didn't like the 10-spoke stock rims that we both ended up getting because it reminds me of the Honda Civic rims but the alternatives wern't worth the extra $. I plan to get winter tires with alloy rims anyways.

I ended up getting black imitation leather interior. I would love to get beige but I'm pretty worried that it won't look so great in the long run with colour rubbing off. I got the premium package, like you. I added on a trailer hitch, a heads-up-display and active LED lighting package.

Car arrived at dealer, look at the rear bumper, are those bugs? Don't they ship these cars enclosed?

If they had to put it on a car carrier, which I am sure they did, to get it from the dock to the Dealership, then it was on there with the rear facing forward. Typical

Yeah, the latest interior wood photos look great. For years Mercedes used Zebrano (Zebrawood) for their veneer stock, which was/is my favorite. I think sustainability issues with that led to their use of Burled Walnut. After a couple of Benzes with BW, I decided on the Linden for the GLC, mainly because my BW was always so dark and plastic in appearance. Now I as well wish I'd gotten the BW (as in these photos) because my Linden is very dark especially against a beige interior -- barely see the grain -- although I'd seen many photos before ordering the GLC that showed a much lighter, defined Linden grain.

I was thinking I wanted the Linden Wood too, but my wife corrected my thoughts :-) , so we both got the Burl Walnut. I'm glad I listened to her.

It looks real nice. I agree with guido3, the pictures online of the Linden wood looked lighter. With the beige interior, which I have, the BW would have looked better. Oh Well!! I don't have a wife to correct me....lol.

Good thing you listened to your wife the linden wood is a nightmare! It will scratch with you simply swiping your finger over it. I tried to wipe off some dust from the center console and ended up leaving an array of scratches.

Loving the blue - the first one I've seen in blue so lucky I like it as I've ordered one! Think it'll look good with the Night Pack as well in that colour.

We considered the Night Package, and along with the Panorama Roof, those are the only 2 big options we didn't do. I think it will look great! The blue seems to take on various looks depending on the sun / lighting outside. Sometimes almost black and sometimes almost a hint of purple. We've seen most of the colors on the GLC, and they all look great.

For E-ZPass. An electronic toll collection system used in many of the east coast states.

Got it...thought it might have been someway to mount the tag without drilling the bumper.

Gorgeous! That's the exact color and wood combo we're planning on choosing on the inside. The outside we're thinking that brown metalic or the lunar blue metalic.

I'm torn every time I go into the garage since they are identical inside, only the outside color differentiates them. Each one equally awesome. You can't go wrong with either or with any of the other colors.

Minor tint to my tail lights... Very subtle change.. Just to make the red a bit darker and the white a minor smoke.. Getting compliments almost daily on them without telling people.. I don't like that dark smoke out look just wanted to add something to the night package.

Crazy think about the 20 inch rims on this car is the ride is more smoother then the 18 inch stock rims that was on my previous E Class & def a lot smoother then all 20 inch rims I had on the E Class.... and none of those were MOE Run Flats Tires

This is another color combo I like on the inside! I just wish the sport package wasn't required. The metalized ash wood would look awesome with that as well.
