Driver assistance not same as on S-class??
)The steering assist (active lane centering) does not seem as mature as it should. I ordered the GLC in November mainly based on the youtube videos of the S-class. On Michigan interstate going about 70-75mph, it will sometimes drift out of lane on gentle curve, those with no warning signs put up.
Also when I turn on a curve, I turn the steering wheel and keep it turned until out of the curve. Steering assist will turn it a little, move it back straight, turn it a little, move straight etc, like a staircase approximation
The distronic plus also seems buggy. If I set the system going 40-50mph and coming up on a red light with cars already stopped, the system will not recognize the last car and I will wait until the last second and brake my self. Even when it works and detects the car ahead, it won't slow down until too close and then brakes a lot.
Thoughts?

It's not working properly and you should bring it to the dealer and have it checked. I have Driver Assist package and it is very impressive. Just like in all the videos. Also, I brought my new GLC in because i got an error on the dash. They found that one of the stereoscopic cameras was not working properly. They replaced it. And they also said that their was a software update for the GLC. So they did that as well. Steering assist is not really worth it on the highway, because it makes you keep a hand on the wheel.
In traffic though, steering assist combined with distronic cruise is priceless. I drove in 30 minutes of heavy traffic yesterday with everything activated and the car basically drove me to work. I could have sat in the back seat. At speeds less than 20 mph it does not require you to touch the wheel, ever.

I took it in and complained mainly about the distronic plus as it was the easiest to replicate. Well their response was that it's not supposed to recognize cars stopped at a light (or in very heavy traffic). Or rather, it does sense them, but the software is programmed to ignore them, because I have tested it , coming well less than 300 ft from the car stopped ahead and the display does not show the car. The service manager was helpful to tell me that if I got REALLY close, it will autobrake...
Sure in rush hour you're not likely to be going the speed limit (say 40-50mph) and not be following a car as you approach an intersection, but in light traffic it happens a lot , to the point that its very easy to replicate.
The driver assist is pretty good, but works better at 60-70mph, rather than 80-85mph that everyone goes on the interstate here, so that and the fact that the left solid lane marker on arterials breaks for MI lefts, means I'm always driving in the left or right center lane and driving on average slower than usual.
As an electrical engineer working in the auto industry, I suspect that all the sensor and hardware capabilities are there but they don't want to make it too perfect out of liability fear, unlike tesla for example.
