Binnacles or no binnacles - THAT is the question!
Since the picture thread has divulged into too many posts regarding whether the GLC has the binnacles in the instrument cluster or not, I figured I'd start a new thread regarding this anomaly.
In my own limited research on Autotrader, I compared a whole bunch of GLC's that are currently available nationwide (US) and looked at the interior pictures of them all. The only thing I noticed is that GLC's without the Interior Package DO NOT have the binnacles. But, who knows, that might be coincidental.
So, for all of you with a new GLC, tell us:
1) Does yours have the binnacles in the instrument cluster?
2) What option packages did your GLC come with?
Hopefully by getting some responses we can determine what triggers the binnacles in the instrument cluster!

And sadly (because I would rather have not gotten them), it also has the dual binnacles.
And this is why it's still a mystery. You don't have the Interior Package, but yet you do have the Binnacles. Why. Our builds aren't really that different.

Cars that have the build code exclusive interior p22 get the binacles. I cannot figure out how that code gets added. I have found it on all cars with interior package/leather. I have also seen on car with brown mbtex built like rbrylaw's GLC. In non USA builds you actually order an exclusive interior that gives the binacles. It does not make sense here.

I think I've only seen pictures of the interior WITH the binnacles...does anyone have a pic without? For the record, I ordered mine pretty much loaded and i do not see P22 on my build sheet. I'll find out in March what I got.

No, it doesn't. The other/additional codes on the build sheet that are not specific options I selected are:
098 factory code
218 Rearview camera
5P6 Control code - scheduling and production
7P7 Factory Code
Kind of deepens the mystery because it bucks the pattern!

I think it looks BETTER without them. It's not like I absolutely hate them on my GLC, I just think that it makes the instrument cluster look unnecessarily busy. I prefer the cleaner look without them, personally.

I personally think it's looks fine either way. We wouldn't have objected if our GLC had them. And we're not upset it doesn't. I just wish there was a way to definitively know what option one must have to get them. Especially for those who really like and want them.

Ok, At this point I'm theorizing that you get the binnacles if you get the Driver Assistance package and/or the Advanced Parking Assist package. Here are a few that have Driver Assistance, no Interior Package, and HAVE the binnacles:

BECAUSE, check this one out! No Driver Assistance (not sure if it has Advanced Parking Assist), but has Interior Pkg. and HAS binnacles. Is that a special-order interior color? How did this arrive in the US (in PA)? http://bit.ly/1Pikb2l

The one with the special interior (saddle brown leather) and polar white exterior is a launch edition special for the US market. It has special emblems on its front fenders. As far as the binacles, I think cars with interior packages come with binacles as well as cars with park assist or drive assist.

My dealer in Dallas has some cars with sports package with top stitch but no binnacles. To get binnacles, you need a build with one of the following items on your build sheet interior package, exclusive interior(p22 code), park assist, or drivers assist.
