Factory Tow Package

In case anyone was interested in what the factory tow package looks like. Interestingly my dealer ordered it my mistake when I was 'ticking all the boxes' so I got it for free. ($675 in Canada)

But what I can confirm is that with the Factory Tow Package I still have all the Parking assist features (including self park) as well as the 360 degree camera. I had read somewhere here on the forums that you could not have this combination so I was a bit stressed that I'd lose these features. But all is well - nothing was compromised, I guess now I can get a bike attachment as I doubt I will ever have anything to tow.

Even if you were charged the $675 that would be a bargain compared to what Mercedes Benz Australia charge on the other side of the Pacific. We are looking at $1500 for the parts plus approx. 7 hours for fitting bringing the cost of the tow package to $2800 AUD.

I don't have the motion activated lift gate. Turns out it was a delayed availability anyhow (at least in Canada) you could only order it on Jan 16 production cars. Mine was built in December.

Sorry for hijacking, I'm searching for info to have a tow package fitted to a 2007 C280 in Australia. $2800 is a bit out of my budget, I could buy an old merc for my kids for that price. Anyone recommend if there's an aftermarket fitter supplier in Melbourne?

Is this the electrically operated automatic tow bar?

Try the local independent MB specialists such as Alan Lennox, Peter Lennox, Ammstar etc. You may be able to find a cheap kit from the wreckers but note the canbus connection, modules and programming are the expensive bit. Also note that the earlier MB tow packs sometimes had issues with LED lights and a resistor pack had to added.

Thanks - I'll give them a go.

I don't think so - it all looks pretty static, I think you need to attache a tow ball to it.

Aah. So it's just a preparation for a tow hitch and not an actual tow hitch.
The electrical one is very cool...never needs viagra.
