What can you say...it's a matter of personal choice and budget. Most will say the larger wheels look better but obviously cost more so it's a trade off.

My concern is mostly about the performance of the wheels/tires. That too may end up being a matter of personal preferences. I am thinking of comfort, handling, braking, noise, wear, etc.

As the (alloy) wheels get larger, the "band of rubber" gets thinner (the outside diameter/circumference remains essentially the same). I would think that to some extent, the less rubber there is the more danger there might be to the alloy wheels when hitting pot holes etc.

19's are typically the best all around compromise.

If looks, steering response are absolutely important get the 20's

If fuel economy, ride, pot hole resistance are most important get the 18's.

I ordered my car with the 19"wheels and am glad that I did. The 18 inch wheels look too small on the car.

19" is definitely the sweet spot between price, performance and appearance.

2014 Mercedes E Class
In my 20 plus years of driving I've only had 20 inch rims no matter what car I've had... However, one time for 3 years I had 19 inches...

The only time I've had 18 inches, is usually right when I get any new car (stock wheels) for a few days -- week at the most -- until I put my own wheels on the car..

This time I decided to see what the AMG 20 inch feels like. I've never had a comfort or ride quality issue with 20s... Maybe I'm so used to it... But the thing about the GLC you will use bigger tires compared to 19/20 inch wheels on a car... For instance if you debating 18/19, that 19 inch on the C Class Sedan will fill a lot different then 19 inches on the GLC

Get the lightest wheel and the best tires for your needs. Sometimes stock wheels are some of the lightest. A few pounds can make a difference. How the weight is distributed on the wheel tire combo matters too but is almost impossible to get that kind of information.

My cars since 2005 have been sport sedans and sport coupes. They've all had 19s. I test drove the GLC with 18s and thought they looked great, perfect for the SUV. This time around I'm looking for a comfortable ride, and feel that the 18s should fit the bill, without sacrificing looks.

I ordered it without the lighting package, the options did not contain heated seats as well, and surround view camera, and no navigation, it was offroad package. It costed me 85,000$ . (GLC 250 4 MATIC) . How much did it cost you?

I wouldn't be too concerned with the comfort/handling differences between 18" and 19" wheels. I would expect them to ride very similarly. Jumping up to 20" rims would likely be more noticeable. Tires will impact ride quality as well.

Having said that, I think 18's look too small on the GLC. I prefer the look with the larger wheels. The larger wheels options look great in person and give the vehicle more character IMO. The GLC I drove with the standard 18" wheels was very comfortable tho.

In the USA all GLCs have run flats. Check with your dealer. I bet it is no different where you are. You can also check the MB website for your country. Mercedes Benz Middle East.
