18" vs 19" Wheels
As the (alloy) wheels get larger, the "band of rubber" gets thinner (the outside diameter/circumference remains essentially the same). I would think that to some extent, the less rubber there is the more danger there might be to the alloy wheels when hitting pot holes etc.
The only time I've had 18 inches, is usually right when I get any new car (stock wheels) for a few days -- week at the most -- until I put my own wheels on the car..
This time I decided to see what the AMG 20 inch feels like. I've never had a comfort or ride quality issue with 20s... Maybe I'm so used to it... But the thing about the GLC you will use bigger tires compared to 19/20 inch wheels on a car... For instance if you debating 18/19, that 19 inch on the C Class Sedan will fill a lot different then 19 inches on the GLC

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The 18" are so good on them
and dont forget that if you want to put more inches you will have to put he sport package which will cost you +2000$
Having said that, I think 18's look too small on the GLC. I prefer the look with the larger wheels. The larger wheels options look great in person and give the vehicle more character IMO. The GLC I drove with the standard 18" wheels was very comfortable tho.
