Hi from Land Down Under - Australia

Is it possible to increase the sound volume of turn indicators and reverse and forward cabin alarm sounds ???
Thanks
returned home, rest of car electronics seemed to function. Charge rate was high at 14.7 and 14.8v from my voltage indicator in the 12v socket.
Placed car battery on charge with Ctek charger, registered 3 on scale of 7, left charge for 24 hours - result - all back to normal !!
Main battery might be on way out due to age, winter here has started with 3c overnight temp. May need charging every 3-4 weeks during this time. Replacement OEM AGM battery from Dealer is close to $500, similar price to Auto shops here.
have a battery jump start power brick in trunk (boot) if I get stranded whilst away from home as backup.
It appears that MB may be filling cars with cold climate oils when manuf in European plants, even if vehicle is for warm or hot climates. He has changed all oils and transmission to spec for relevant region and reset computer to clear codes – BIG improvement in performance and smoothness of drive, interesting ‘find’ on his part.
Applies to GLC and a number of other AMG models too.

I will find out business name of mates friend who has done the hard yards with investigating oils for you.
As far as alternative to Dealer you use I can highly recommend Mercedes in Geelong. Excellent support with Parts Dept and excellent assistance with Service Dept. Prices very attractive compared to Melbourne for service, labour hour rates and wheel align too. Very supportive with ‘Goodwill’ applications to MB HQ for items out of warranty as well.
There are a number of excellent Independent mechanics in Melb, some advertise in MB Vic Car Club magazine too.

Have not seen any reviews or pricing as yet, unknown if Continental import them into Au yet.

Yes now a spare emergency tyre (80KPH) in boot
Tyres are now non runflats, conventional tyres.
Battery has been moved to the boot beside spare tyre.
Tyre pressure increased to 37psi (F&R) or 40psi under load……
Rims now staggered, with wider rims at rear, like 43/63 and Coupe series.
Running side boards modified, a lot narrower in front and wider for both rear doors.
Different head rests, no USB in rear passenger area, maybe on unmarked ?
Heads up cutout area on dash much bigger, so I guess more data displayed on screen.
Front struts area in engine bay looks redesigned when shocks are secured to body.
The list probably goes on, but this is a quick visual snapshot.
Battery is still AGM - 12V, 80Ah, CCA800, RC 140 min specs.
Front shock struts look redesigned
Battery now in boot
Increased PSI from 32 to 37 and 40psi on non runflats
Staggered rim for front and rear tyres
Redesigned head rests

MBAu seem to have moved to non run flats, with some new Continentals. Wonder if GLC run flats will be imported.
Shame Michelin Cross Climate 2 tyres are not deemed relevant for Australia.
” In September Goodyear announced that would cut 700 jobs and sell up to 100 retail and fleet focused tyre outlets as it exits tyre distribution in Australia and New Zealand. By April 2024 it will close nine warehouse locations as well.
The winners are National Tyre & Wheel that will become the distributor for Dunlop tyres, and Tyremax who will the distributor for Goodyear tyres. The deal involves car, SUV, 4WD and truck tyres.
The potential losers are Fleet Managers and Fleet Management Organisations who rely on the Beaurepaires network of retail outlets to provide tyre replacement on a national basis with centralised billing.
It’s a decision that reverses the trend over the last two decades of global tyre manufacturers establishing warehouses and local sales offices to service fleet customers and local retail outlets including national franchisees such as JAX Tyre and Bob Jane T-Marts.
Goodyear reported to shareholders that the change in distribution will be revenue positive highlighting the significant costs (rents, staff and transport) when servicing smaller markets like Australia and New Zealand.
Both National Tyre & Wheel and Tyremax are independent distributors working on a ‘house of brands’ strategy that can service tyre retailers with multiple tyre brands in one delivery through a single ordering platform.
Last decade Hankook purchased the JAX Tyres business which included approximately 90 franchised stores. While Continental purchased the Kmart Tyre & Auto business of 200+ company owned stores and later rebranded them to mycar.
Both transactions replicated the Goodyear model, which operated 300+ company owned Beaurepaires stores, and appeared to be a good way to secure sales volume within a network of retailers. The announcement by Goodyear may create some more movements in the market as rising costs force tyre manufacturers to rethink the vertically integrated model.“

You need to post on the W202 forum, which you can find with the sedans.

There are a number of excellent Independent mechanics in Melb, some advertise in MB Vic Car Club magazine too.
I went to Eurostar Diesels (they specialise in MB diesels, esp Vitos and Sprinters) for an AC service in October as the car never got cold on AC from the time I bought it. Really professional and good blokes - they found my ac gas was at 0.56kg instead of 0.64kg and leak tested the condenser, piping, vents, etc. They texted me a report when they did the job. This week’s heatwave put the system to the test and I’m happy now with the level of cold air.
They also advertise 9gtronic service at $1395. They said to call them ahead and they can give quotes for petrol car service, but I’m still under warranty and will now go to MB Geelong (Rex Gorell?) for my upcoming B1 in June. Thanks for the recommendation! I was actually looking at a used silver E220d they had when I bought my car, but the missus wanted the shiny new black petrol e300 at MB Berwick instead.

There's a youtuber from Canberra who replaced his one with a Bosch LN4 which seems to go for $399 now in Sydney.

Hopefully some good news. We never let our AdBlue drop below 50%. Top up with quality AdBlue that is recently made and stored in a cool place. 50Km into a 125km trip the error message activated, 15 min later the display said 800km range till engine shuts down. Got to destination, stayed there 5 hours and commenced return journey. Still no level detected and 800km range reducing by 120km when we returned. Got quotes for new tank - $3400, 4 month back order from Germany, no stock. AdBlue delivery pump - $$1800, in stock. Nox sensors x 2 _ $1650 each.
Risk the tank, pump or sensors has been disabled due to crystallisation in tank.
Research let to some manuf, all overseas who sold a AdBlue additive - used in AdBlue tank. Selected brand “Forte” and preferred option, 125ml services 20l tank Benz tank is 27l.
Car rested for 4 days, battery charger connected to top up battery in case electrical knock on ??
Ordered “Forte” Exhaust Crystal Preventer from UK, DHL Express delivery, arrived in Oz6 days later.
1 x bottle dispensed, sat for 3 hours. On starting engine alert still on dash. AdBlue tank now seeing virtually full tank - 700km range gone, no messages on screen except for engine light - I suspect it will go when error codes cleared.
Drove GLC at 100kph for 30 min ,rested car 2 hours and returned @ 100kph for 30 min. No more issues !!!
Hopefully this id the golden arrow that fixes the issue. Forte recommend 1 x bottle every AdBlue fill - won me.
Hope this helps.

Bottle of “Forte” in AdBlue tank seems to have worked for me.
1. AdBlue tank is now reading and functioning levels.
2. Warning distance till engine stops and will not restart has gone - car has done this, no OBD11 used.
3. Engine light turned itself off this week - again no OBD11 used.
I might buy an OBD11 unit to analyse car and see if any error codes remain and what they are before deleting them ?
Hopefully cured, will monitor, use another bottle of “Forte” when I top up AdBlue, might wait till tank is 25% remaining
Looking at replacing AdBlue with another brand - “Clearonox or Clearnox” sold here in Australia - it has a crystalisation reducer to stop or minimise the issue.
Combined with “Forte” I am hoping no more concerns.
Might have dodged a $6000 repair bill.

Seems to be. World wide issue with both RHD and LHR variants.
Two GLC in Australia. Cars are out of warranty. Exactly the same wear issues, so must be a fault of design.
Asked Dealership to contact MB Australia for warranty claim. Best we could get was possibly 50% discount on base seat, with labour costs against us to pay,, so Au$3500 per seat. They have to be kidding.
In 50 years I have never had seat issues like this, Lexus. Jeep, Skoda, VW, Toyota, Renault, Saab, Ford, Holden, and the list goes on. This really is a design or manuf fault or error that they are running away from.
I am not impressed given the cost of the vehicles and the fact we have always had vehicles serviced by Dealerships and used only OEM parts.
MB Germany need to grow some *** and direct Regional HQ in each Regional areas to fix this. No doubt the newer models will have had a fix implements, why should we end up being the crash dummies for their R&D processes - Not Happy Mercedes.
Booked my 'Express' A Service with MB Berwick today. AUD599 for A service incl oil, oil filter and labour.
Need to have 2 annoyances checked out under warranty, hence the booking with the dealer who sold the car.
They quoted $450 per 90 minute diagnostics fee on pro rata basis for faults not covered under warranty.
my annoyances:
- door mirror light comes on and stays on midway through trips; occasionally door mirror does not retract at locking.
- lately its happened twice, I've left home and within a minute warning alerts come on that front hood (bonnet) is not closed - when in fact its closed shut!

I will still go to Geelong MB out of loyalty and their competitive price and technical knowledge.
Laura was my Service Advisor. Very respectful and very amicable lady.

I still dont like MBUX touchscreen interface as a driver, and the lack of the centre trackpad is annoying.
The ride is nice and plush for standard suspension. Even though they’re RFTs, the large tire size really smooths out the ride. However it has a high centre of gravity and is boxy, so it gets to the envelope of bad body roll a bit too soon for my tastes.
The cabin is also noticeably noisier; tire and outside environmental noise is noticeable while driving.
