Have to put the Wheels car of the year into to perspective they choose the CX9 over the E Class and A4 but, a quick look at the past winner's list will show some absolute **** boxes such as the VC Commodore, JB Camira etc.

Looks like Australia misses out on the power input options seen here in a Canadian GLC, possibly 43.
Shame MB for Oz do not consider such an inclusion is actually excluded from being provided or even optioned for buyers. We have a GLC that is nearly "fully loaded" and this was never an optioned.
We commented at the time how backward MB were in not having outlets in the back ! Now we know better, MB could have fitted this, but chose not to for Aussie buyers, Shame, Shame MB !

i really wanted the off-road engineering package in my car. but it wasn't available in Canada because MB Canada division said it wouldn't be wanted and not worth including in the option list. it is also why in Canada you can only get the 4MATIC version and not the RWD; at least in 2016 anyways.

Buying a new vehicle these days has no degree of "democracy " about it.
I agree some Govt regulations need to be negotiated for each region and country.
However the "marketing guru " and " profit manager " within MB Germany and their counterparts in each country effectively decide what's best for the "customer", or more precisely their respective profit lines.
We have all seen this with other brands, the likes of Lexus, VW Group and its offshoots, Jag, etc, etc.
However with tech and internet buyers are more savvy and now demand "common access" to most options.
Our GLC's in Oz are very much "loaded" with options that other markets have to option up, not a bad thing, but you are forced to accept some options to just get one, eg, HUD means having sunroof as well, no ability to be selective. Also Oz is not offered acoustic front glass at manuf, but can be retro ordered after you take delivery for approx $1000 I think. Surely it makes better sense to have it done in the factory.
We will never change this business model, but we can hopefully influence it enough so some common sense is applied ?

Heads up to all re another supplier of tow bar in Oz.
Link is on Ebay from Aussie seller, no wiring kit it seems.
Will make some enquiries.

Interesting that the tow ball seems integrated with the bar unlike the Westfalia where the tow ball is removable.

Wheels review of the GLC
The wheels car of the year review of the GLC is critical of the basic suspension on the models without airmatic.
They did say "Possibly the best-looking thing in its class.....until you see the coupe"

Well the Mercedes ship has docked in Melbourne, looks like its offloaded its cargo and is now on its way to do the same for our friends in NSW and QLD.
Hoping for the wife's Coupe to be delivered late next week..... very excited, will get a photo later once duco and interior treated of both our GLC's, the wagon & Coupe.. try side by side ad front to back.

You probably have ADR (Australian Design Rules) to thank for many things like this. Seems they think the know more about building cars than Toyota, BMW, MB etc

Get ready for more order pressures and delays ??
GLC just awarded Best SUV in price range $65k to $125k.
RACV and motoring associations.

See Video clip too in link.
Great news, looks like the secret is out and we can expect more on the road.

Our second GLC, this time a Coupe, 250d arrives tomorrow. Very happy wife. Few more extras than mine and we deleted the side steps.
Car is then going straight to paint technician for treating and sealing. He has done our other cars including our BMW 330ci convertable, as well as its removable hard top.
Will post some comparison data re ride and suspension as we ordered air, not steel springs, and it runs on normal tyres and not runflats.

Ok, will do, but it will be later next week as car is now with Auto Alchemy for paint, interior and glass treatment. We have now treated all our cars, much happier and easy to maintain.
Wife loves the Coupe, must admit I'm a bit jealous, great body shape and love the red and black leather seats and door trim.
I'm trying to book a test drive and get it away from her, lol.

Nice hope you both enjoy it, good luck getting the test drive.
Maybe tell her that you need to give it a shake down due to it's important cargo it will carry daily.

Hi,
Just cruised into Sydney, freeway driving and the last 40 km to the Harbour Bridge was a rat run through suburbs at 40-70 ! Km....
My 250d, with 25k on the clock...... 867 km, Ave 5.6l/ 100km.
Ave 97 Kph... range left in tank reads 318km. So possible range might be 1185 km , running at 110kph ?
Very impressed, and very happy.

Lol.
Yes and the humidity and fog/ rain.
I had forgotten how narrow the roads were, esp when the councils put white lines on the roads and compress an extra lane in. Felt like I needed rubber buffers down each side of te car. Still good to be visiting Sydney.

The fuel economy is certainly impressive at that average speed.
