I haven't checked this out in a GLC (waiting for the '17s), but my current Saab has a rear (single lens, red, extra bright) rear fog light that is switched independently from the front (low mounted) fogs. Perhaps this is true of the GLC, with front "fog" lighting being handled without special lenses up front.

With ILED lights when you turn on the rear fog lights the ILEDs change the shape of the beam to suit foggy conditions. Therefore there is no need for extra low level 'standard' fog lights.

^ Agree. With active LED headlights, it really makes dedicated fog lights unneccessary. I didn't know the GLC had rear fog lights. Where is this button? Does it actually light up?

Yes, the fog light switch is immediately to the left of the control knob for the headlights. It will light a yellow or amber color when activated and there will be a yellow/amber headlight icon lit in the dash. The fog light is only on the LEFT REAR side. It has nothing to do with a front fog lamp.

The 2013 C-Class had a strip of LEDs mounted just below the bumper line under the headlights. These LEDs were described variously as providing both a DRL function and fog lighting. I remember one description saying the LEDs were designed/focused to enhance the fog lighting. Does anyone know if the GLC's LEDs under the halogens have specifically the same dual function? Just curious.

Thanks, Joe; likewise, I found nothing in the OM regarding front fog lighting. Fog lights are /were usually mounted below the bumper to facilitate aiming downward in order to cut the fog with a strong light beam that would not reflect off the fog back toward the driver. However, M-B did have earlier models with well aimed and focused fogs built into the headlight cluster. The W201 is a good example that provides excellent fog lighting. Apparently, fog lights are largely giving way to LED DRLs, in a sort of form over function way when it comes to fog. The DRLs may put a face on a car but just don't cut it (fog, that is) in my experience thus far with the GLC in fog.

I've never seen an oem front fog/driving light that was worth a damn.
