2021 glc300 Software update / services expired / check engine light on

2021 glc300 Software update / services expired / check engine light on
Started up my 21 glc300 this morning. Display said software update had been applied. Immediately followed by a “service has expired” message. Drove for less than a mile, and the check engine light kicked on. I did the gas cap thing and disconnected the negative battery terminal for a few minutes. Still have the check engine light on.
I bought it new, exactly 3 yrs ago today. Odd coincidence with the check engine light coming on today and after a software update. I get the service expiry point. They want $27 a month now for remote start/lock and some other stuff. Yay.
any ideas before I waste time and money with a service appointment?
