The driver's seat is uncomfortable

Love my GLC.

Except... after about half an hour, my lower back starts letting me know it is unhappy in this particular seat. In 14 years of driving my previous car, a 2002 Toyota RAV4, I never had this problem.

To me, the GLC driver's seat makes me feel like my butt is a couple of inches down in a bucket. That's putting my pelvis in a strange position and causing my back pain, I surmise.

The reason for the bucket feeling, I think, is the thigh-support-extender thingy (which I don't use -- I keep it retracted in "normal car seat" position). Since this is motorized that part of the seat -- the part closest to the steering wheel -- is super firm. In fact, it's more than firm, it's positively hard if you push on it beyond the inch or so of cushioning on top of whatever motor is in there. (Compare to the more even softness of the passenger seat -- assuming you have the regular passenger seat without the thigh-extender-thingy, as I do -- to see what I mean.)

Combine that super hard front part of the seat with the much softer rear part of the seat and you have a formula for making your butt feel like it's sitting down a couple of inches lower than your thighs.

I fiddled with the lumbar support but it doesn't solve the problem.

I took a couple of hand towels and folded them up so they would fill in the "depression" I'm talking about at the back of the seat. Voila, my butt is out of the bucket, more level with my thighs, and my pelvis is definitely in a more natural and comfortable position.

So... any suggestions about where/how to get a cushion which will fit toward the back of the seat and do what the towels are doing for me -- lift my butt up an inch or two into a more neutral position?

TIA

I'm thousands of miles away from my car at the moment, but I'm almost certain you can adjust the seat cushion angle by tilting the corresponding part of the seat controller. Have you tried that?

Appreciate the reply. It's true you can adjust the lower part of the seat separately, but what I mean is that the rear part of that (ie, the rear part of the lower half of the seat) sinks a bit toward the back of the seat. This shape/ergonomics is built-into the design of the seat.

I have tried putting a pillow under my butt and it helps. I might order a pillow specifically for this purpose, in the shape of a wedge, from Amazon. There are a lot of them available....

I have the same problem with back pain and driving. I drove it from Punta Gorda to Palm Beach, or I tried to. I couldn't go the entire way, my back was killing me, especially on the sides. Around town, on shorter drives, I never noticed the problem. I bought a lumbar support pillow, it seems to help. I'm officially an old man now.
