trailer hitch Mercedes GLC300
#26
I ordered factory after I watched the eTrailer video on how to install aftermarket. Yikes. That and I read a few posts about the wiring issues. Sad that it's a puny Class II but I am over it now. Hey it'll take a 2" ball and tow 3500#. Why should I car it's not 2" receiver, although my wife asked if I was sure that I wanted a Barbi receiver.
Already had to order custom since nothing in USA matched my ideal build. Try finding Selenite, AMG Line, Driver Assist, hitch... impossible to even come close without a $60k price tag.
2021 GLC300 coming some time in second quarter hopefully.

I have pulled a trailer a few times with my 2019 GLC and factory hitch. It pulls quite well. One time I had 1.5 yards of top soil that I had loaded during initial COVID where they didn't want you to get out of the car. When I got home the car sure was squatted. I have to admit it pulled and stopped fine. They loaded the dirt too far forward in the trailer producing a lot of tongue weight.

I have a 2019 GLC 300 and asked the MB dealer to install a trailer hitch. The scheduling guy told me that that year and model can only have a trailer hitch factory installed. Does this make any sense ???

Nope. In Australia you can get the "MB Au" approved hitch from the dealers (it's different to the Factory hitch) or you can go aftermarket which is better quality and cheaper (compared to the MB Au approved Hayman Reese anyway).

Uhaul trailer
What trailer hitch ball mount are you using for the uhaul? Is it a standard with drop or a euro mount??? Thanks.

I didn’t follow requirements in the car manual, which had fixed drop and rise requirements of quote:
"Required dimensions not to be exceeded: Class II Ball Mount for 1-1/4” receiver. 1-1/4” Drop, 5/8” Rise, 7” length."
but used advice on Uhaul and other trailing sites for selecting a hitch mount with a rise suitable for the particular trailer coupler height at Uhaul. Based on my needs I bought from Amazon:
Curt 45148 towing starter kit with everything included
POLLAK 12716 7-Way to 4-Way Adapter
Note: Curt ball mount stated length is 10", and usually that means from center hole to center of ball, but in this case, it was total length, so center-to-center is actually about 7"
With this setup I towed light uHaul trailers a few times without issues.

I just bought the 2021 GLC 43 AMG and apparently it's impossible to get a trailer wiring harness because of the AMG Electrical Package. The wiring is not compatible, according to the Mercedes dealerships in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Has anyone been doing this install and if so, which hotch and wiring harness did you use?

Had a Stealth Hitch installed today. No affect on appearance of vehicle. No trimming on bumper facia. Doesn't stick out. Receiver pops out for storage when not in use so no ground clearance problems. Tongue weight is 350. Good enough for a few bikes or cargo rack.
