GLC300 adaptive cruise not working

I have a 2017 GLC300 4matic and since buying it last September Ive taken several long trips. On the last trip there were problems with the adaptive cruise. When I approached another car, it would not slow down, it would go right up to their bumper. I did a "Factory Reset" then turned on the "Accident Avoidance" but it still not slow down when approaching another car.

Could it be the front Sensor gone bad? Or could it be that the computer needs to be "reflashed"? It could need a reset as there are a couple of other things that are not working such as the Engine Stop while waiting at an intersection and the Intermittent Setting on the windshield wipers.

Thanks,
BrianA

I'm pretty sure our adaptive cruise uses the Distronic system radar. I'm surprised you didn't get an error message from your brake assist system.

Do you know if the previous owner did any custom coding?

The distance control settings on your distronic affects how soon the system reacts to the car in front.

With one bar showing, It waits until the very last minute and it seems like you're going to crash. Although alarming, it's normal behavior.

If you set it to five bars following distance, It anticipates much sooner and will slow more gently.

Experiment with those following distances.

Regarding the auto stop, it won't stop if your battery is not fully charged.

GLC300 adaptive cruise not working

It turns out, My GLC does not have the "Distronic" option. My'07 SL550 has that, but when looking at the window sticker, Distronic is listed buried in a long list of options that cost a total of over $6,000. I do not see that feature when looking at the options on the GLC.
It seems dumb that Mercedes would not just include that feature on all cars with Cruise Control, being they are all about safety. Cruise Control and Distronic are together a $2,500 option but it is usually bundled with a bunch of other options.
