2017 GLC 300 without Touchpad

Hello..
I picked up my wife's new GLC a couple weeks ago. At the time I noticed that it's missing a touchpad (mouse looking thing above the rotary dial). The salesman told me that it may be the new thing for the 2017 models. So I thought it's no biggy but start hearing that the car needs it for controlling the electronics including the navigation. Do any of you know why this particular model doesn't have touchpad and whether it makes the car deficient in anyway? My car is pretty basic with the SD card ready but no navigation. Thanks.

It's a $100 option, mine does not have it either and I don't miss it.....

I turned the touchpad off on my 2016 GLC. The control wheel is easier to use.

Touchpad sucks. They should have stuck with the wheel only.

Makes a nice hand rest when you're using the wheel. I have it turned off.

I made sure to order our 2017 specifically without it. My wife was actually interested in the new E class until she found you couldn't get it without the touchpad. What a terrible idea.

I'm not impressed by it either. It came as standard for me here in the UK, but definitely wouldn't pay for it.

touch the button that looks like a car on the dash (vehicle settings)
then system settings
then select touchpad then select from there
its in comand manual page 23

i leave mine on all the time - i don't inadvertently hit it that often (though i do at times), and usually use the 2 finger swipe up then left/right swipe to change radio stations if find that easiest

The only use I've found for the touchpad ( and this can probably be done with the wheel) is while using the Navgation and going to a destination I can swipe right on the touchpad highlighting the exits and then swipe up to go through all exits to the end of the destination. Helps me find gas or rest areas ahead. Other than this makes a nice hand rest.

I don't use the touchpad very often. Like the wheel and voice commands

If the 2018 GLC 300 doesn’t already have the touch pad mouse, can it be installed later?

I'm not even sure it is a good option anyway. Don't feel like you're missing out on that option.

I have the touch pad in my 2017. I never use it and would never consider paying to have one installed. It does make a good place to rest your hand tho.
