I'd noticed this too and someone correctly pointed me to the park assist function. Basically it's telling you there's a possible park on the left (or right). It's active all the time, so I often get told there's a nice park available in the queue for the traffic lights

Yes it is, as you say, pointing to a suitable parking space...active up to 30 kph.

Thats wild, cause I can assure you some of the times it appears there is not parking within a miles; well unless you consider a parking in a divided road or neighborhood street as parking. Can't understand why they would make that always active as opposed to "engaged " or "Not engaged" as is the case with adaptive cruise

well they didn't ask me....still LOVE the vehicle

Just make sure you never drive slower than 25 mph and it won't come on.

Distronic is a must have if you're a road warrior. I use it on my commute daily. This features reduces a lot of stress and frustration from highway traffic. it is also very useful for stop and go gridlock. Just set it and occasionally tap the gas pedal if the log jam in front of you actually moves. If you're moving more frequently than once every 3 seconds then you don't even need to engage the pedal. The car will just drive itself. Obviously, at cruising speed I have no desire for the car to have full control. But in gridlock this is hugely preferable to the alternative of staring at the bumper in front of me while doing my best to suppress slowly simmering rage

Surround view is nice for tight parallel parking situations as the MB parking sensors are not do not provide consistent enough variation in pitch and pulse rate to really use effectively. Frankly, the parking sensors on my previous two Fords were much more usable then the ones on the Mercs. I'll echo what others have said about the usefulness of surround view when curbing the vehicle. The AMG mercs all use low-pro tires and most the OEM tires offer no protection against wheel rash. Even a light brush with a curb will scare these wheels since there is no protection offered by the tire. Lastly, our GLC gets parked in a very tight single car garage. The surround view makes this task a lot easier. No more need for hanging tennis ***** and such

The auto parking feature is a bit of a gimmick and only seems useful to people who don't understand how to parallel park. I never use it. The GLC is the 3rd vehicle that I've owned with this feature and neither my wife (highly skilled parallel parker) nor I ever use it.

The feature that searches for parking spaces also seems a little too clunky and slow. I've noticed it working, but if I waited for the system to ID a space instead of scanning for them in advance I'd get run of the road by all the impatient drivers.

IMHO, the only worthwhile aspect of the parking package is the surround view camera. For the GLC43 distronic was a separate option. And so was the "parking package". If surround view was a la carte, we would have skipped the package and just optioned with surround view and distronic.
