Engine Vibration in Drive
First, at idle, when the engine is on, there is an slight vibration I can feel in the seat (both driver and passenger), but only after the engine has warmed up. It's enough to be noticeable and annoying. It goes away when the vehicle is in neutral or park.
Second, about 2 seconds after the engine turns on (following it turning off with the auto start/stop), there's a shudder that can also be felt in the seats and a bit in the steering wheel.
Have raised this with the dealer on three separate trips for other problems (brakes screeching). Each time when I've had a loaner (GLK350 x1 and C300 x2), I don't feel anything like this at all.
The dealer tells me they've checked the engine performance data and don't see anything, and also that they've done multiple road tests and a "quality control check" and haven't found anything outside of normal parameters. He said that any perhaps it's because this is a direct injection 4 cylinder, which is good on gas, but noisy. Basically, my service advisor has gotten a little dismissive and thinks I'm just complaining about how a gasoline powered engine works.
Am I expecting too much here, or should I just take this to another dealer? Seems to me like a C300 loaner with 20,000 miles shouldn't be driving smoother than my new GLC300...

The start/stop function on my GLC has improved significantly with about 11,000 miles logged.
Initially my complaint was very similar to Redcat's. Currently however, upon restart, the once excessive vibration has almost completely disappeared.
My gut feel is we're dealing with a direct injection four cylinder engine and four bangers are inherently more prone to vibration.

Now, to fix the wiper chatter and it will be a perfect vehicle rain or shine!

And that's saying something as I'm a hard core American car guy.
I bought the M-B because my wife wanted it. As they say, "happy wife, happy life."
So, perhaps the ride will improve over time, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm just spoiled by the silky smooth idle on my old Lexus RX? Time will tell!
I understand that the car is a DI 4-cylinder, but it seems excessive for this level of car. I have driven other cars with DI 4 bangers (BMW X3, 2.0T audis, etc.) without this problem, and even Hyundai's 2.0T DI 4 is smooth at idle.
I was beginning to think that maybe this was a poorly designed engine, but I had a 2017 E300 4Matic loaner for almost 2 months (received it with about 3000 Miles on it) with the same power train and it was smooth, no vibration at all. So i figure WTF... it's probably a handful of these cars with this problem. I got especially lucky with a GLC with a boat load of fun issues, some fixed, some not.
