Lowering

Quick question I wonder if the springs from a glk would fit the glc. I would like to lower my glc at least an inch

Unlikely as the two vehicles are completely different.

Spring part numbers will provide the answer.

What about from a c300 w205. Isn't the glc based out from it

Got a link to that info?

Figured it was the C due to the naming and also the engine, interior, etc.

Frankly - consider me your "link" - the "C" represents where it is positioned in the GL-SUV lineup - a nomenclature thing and easy for it to be misrepresented.

E-Class chassis with a "shorter" rear end..

If you run into anyone else that is/has been part of the MBUSI Retail Focus Group - let me know..

The GLC itself is a mishmash of Mercedes componentry, specifically the chassis and mechanical bits of the E-Class and the interior and electronics from the C-Class. We find this to be a particularly brilliant way to build a crossover.

You may be wondering what the hell, exactly, the GLC is. Most simply, it's the replacement to the GLK. More completely, it's a crossover with a C-Class-architecture front-end, an E-Class-architecture mid-section, and a completely new rear end — all re-jiggered to work in a taller, more capable form factor.

Any idea when MB will find a focus group to tell them to offer 19" wheels on the GLC43 in the US?

Anyone have any success in lowering their GLC? I haven't had much success looking online, thinking about giving a few companies a call.

Just curious...

Wouldn't a lowered GLC be almost similar to a C wagon except more expensive?

Its a piece of cake for those with air suspension.. Lots of youtube videos on how to lower your Merc with air suspension using lowering links.

There are a couple of pics in the GLC43/63 forum of JustinS car which has been lowered. It looks awesome!

Unfortunately, I don't have the air suspension.

I have the coupe so I think it will have its own interesting look. Also, I'm just trying to take an inch or so off, so hopefully it will still look/feel pretty much the same, just slightly more planted.

Haven't had any luck finding springs in the US. Checked with tirerack.com and H&R directly and neither had parts. They confirmed that the GLK and GLC have different part numbers. Renntech doesn't seem to have anything either.

I looked at the Brabus website, and it's a bit confusing to navigate, but the model number they do have for the GLC (253-004-00) doesn't show up anywhere to actually buy on the site or elsewhere.

Any suggestions?

The springa on the Brabus site can be ordered at a Brabus dealership.

ive talk to APTires, they will make adjustable links for me, all I need to do is to give them the measurements

Our Hand-Held Suspension Module, which we released for the S-Class, also works with the GLC Models equipped with the Air-Suspension (Air-Body-Control).

It'll be online on our website this week. If you want to get a head start, just call in +1-561-845-7888 to order it.
The HSM also works for the W213 - E43AMG.

Any chance you'll have something in the works for those of us without the air suspension?

So the good news is that I was able to source some Brabus springs through Scuderia (part number 253-004-00) but now I'm struggling to find a place to install them. I've contact a handful of local shops north of Boston, but so far the ones that have responded say they don't do that kind of work or they won't do it on a new Mercedes.

Any suggestions for finding a reputable place nearby? From what I read, it's not that hard, you just need to space and tools (things I don't have living in a small condo), so I'm surprised shops aren't interested in some quick money.

At this point, I'm almost willing to go to Meineke down the block...almost.

Hey shadownddust,

Just wondering if you had any luck lowering your GLC. I'm in the same boat. Just bought a GLC 300 Coupe and put new rims and tires on it. Looks fantastic but I wish the it was lowered an inch or two.

Thanks!

Mike

I found a shop that said they would do it for ~$400. Frankly that was more than I was expecting, so I'm just holding on to the springs until I decide whether or not it's worth it. Thinking about making some career moves, so most of my modding plans are on hold until I figure that out.

Also, the brakes have been screeching, so I'm taking care of that next week first.
