Well, coming from a CLA Shooting Brake lease, I hope it'll be
a great improvement with the GLC. Especially since the CLA
is a diesel powered tractor. Also, Swedish motor journalists
all sang the same song of praise over the silent drive of the
GLC. And they were all diesel powered! My hopes are up...

Point taken.
However, my believe is that nuthin' significative happened
in music, since 1980ish (apart from most of the Yes records
of course). To quote S&G, I'm nowadays "enjoying the silence".

Oh god yeah. Please do stick to the standard sound system, it will make it sound nice and authentic 80's :P

So no love for your countries biggest music export then?

I sure will. Listening to the lunch news will sound quite sufficiant.

What music export would that be? If you're not referring to Abba
of course. Two music geniouses plus two angelic voices....
And yes, i can appreciate Abba, since it's so unique!

Yes - took delivery of the 2017 GLC 300 4MATIC in October. The RX 350 was a 2010 third generation model - the fourth generation is too big (and presumably has a wider turning circle.)

Well...you can upgrade the stereo but it's a bit cost prohibitive to install an aftermarket pano roof. There is an excellent thread over on the W205 forum on upgrading the Burmester and the Audio 20. If you know what you're doing or if you know a good stereo installer you can create a much better system than the Burmester but it will cost you some coin. That being said, the Burmester sounds pretty good for a factory system. The Audio 20 sucks, period. I would only get it if I planned on upgrading.

Defo Burmester because a pano is not so useful when you are out for a joyride and you feel bored af.

Panoramic Roof!

I have both, don't actually use the roof very often (temp. is 7º F outside right now) but when I do, I enjoy it.

I listen to the radio all the time. If I listen to it when the car is shut down, windows up, it is awesome. If I am driving down the road at 65 mph with engine noise, tire noise, exhaust noise, wind noise, etc., It might just as well be a $9.00 transistor radio. I doubt if most people can tell the difference between Burmester and stock.

OK... it might be an exaggeration about the transistor radio.

Just my $.02

65mpg engine noise and tire noise? Seriously as such low speeds? Hmmm really?

Yes I agree it is not as serene as my GL(S) was, but it is not such that you can't hear the stereo and appreciate it.

PS. When I have the stereo off I can hear the cover of the sunroof making a noise I knew there is a reason I dislike them so much. Take away headroom, make the car heavier, introduce additional noise, let in light when you don't want it, and so on. I really wish it was an option on the GLC43 as I would not have chosen one.

I have the Pano on my older 2010 GLK and I wish I didn't have it. I like lifting up the rear edge for quiet airflow in the cabin and you can't do that with the Pano. It also has that silly roll up shade which isn't as solid and quiet as the hard shutter.

I love the panoramic roof on my 2016 GLC. It makes the car seem very "open" with lots of light coming in. When passengers are riding in the back seat, they also comment about the same thing. I also have Burmeister sound system which I enjoy very much. However, not being an audiophile, I'm not sure if I would be able to tell the difference between this and standard audio system. The silver Burmeister speakers do look very nice!
