Driving new GLC 300 4matic
Great car. Picked up my GLC 4Matic with 7 miles on it. how did you guys drive the first 1000 miles?
Dealer told me engine doesn't need to be broken into hit Vegas for a nice drive and don't worry about it. Said to leave it on C. Manual says drive on E for first 1000 miles and don't stay on a continuous speed for a long time.
I'm confused.

Mercedes recommends a break in period just like BMW. You need to vary the engine speeds for 1000 miles and not go over about 4k RPM. The brakes also need to be gently used for, I think, 500 miles. I don't understand why the sales associates tell you different than the manual.... If you are not planning on keeping the vehicle for more than a few years I guess you can do what you want. I always follow the break in instructions and have never had a serious problem with the engine or drivetrain.
