Adaptive cruise control, Distronic - effect on brake / disc wear ?
Hi,
Looking for any feedback on brake pad wear and disc wear on GLC.
I realise driving 'manually' without Disctonic will have different wear patterns depending on drive style and road congestion.
However with 'auto adaptive cruise control / Distronic', where the car automatically slows you down or stops, what likely effect on wear and tear.
Could it be less stressful on the braking system, giving more km/ miles before replacing ?
Thanks

The speedtronic and cruise control overrun features can be hard on brakes. ML's would use the rear brakes to keep the cruise control speed constant while traveling downhill so they were known eat through rear pads.

Your mileage may vary, as they say. ML's had rear brake bias to minimize diving on hard braking, so if you drive that way you will see the rears wear out early. I saw around 75K on pads with only a slight differential front to back. In order to see significantly more wear due to Distronic, you would have to assume that more and/or harder stops will be made when this feature is used. Why would this be true?? Would you not have to slow the car yourself to avoid a collision??. The feature is just doing something you would do anyway!
