Black Ash Trim Durable?
Hi all,
I've place an order under the European Delivery Program with an April 24th pick-up date. Selenite gray GLC300 with espresso leather.
I'm having second thoughts about the dark linden wood trim that I ordered.
I would like to hear from some owners how durable (scratch resistant) the black ash trim has been. I know that light scratches in the linden wood can be buffed out, but can't see any way to maintain the open pore trim if it gets scratched.
I have a couple weeks to make any changes to my order, so need to get this locked down.
Thank you for any input provided.

I do like the look of the black ash.

I have the black ash, and have owned the car since early Nov. and I don't think it has any scratches yet, but obviously this is a short period of time. I'd be happy to answer any more questions about it but can't really give it a good test without the risk of actually scratching it! I have the black MB tex interior too and while my husband likes it, it's a bit too monochromatic for my liking as anything dark I put into the car becomes hard to find - where's my jacket? -where did my purse go? I can post a picture if interested later.

Black ash a lot more forgiving of wear and tear than the loss black which shows every finger print, piece of dust and scratch....
Its the better choice for longevity of appearance.

Black ash trim
No issues on mine so far and my friend has a GLC with the black ash trim, he has kids from hell and it seems to be quite robust.

I feel that it is harder to scratch than anything glossy. On our other cars (BMW and Benz) with glossy trim, even wiping off dust with the wrong type of cloth would leave behind spiderweb scratches. The black ash feels softer and I think you really have to scrape or scratch it pretty hard to leave any type of a mark. Like a matte finish, I also think it would be easier to conceal scratches than on a shiny surface.

I have espresso leather and black ash and love the combination. No problems with wear and tear yet, but the car is being babied big time! I do sometimes drop my keys into the cup holder and they've banged around while I press the cover down to release it, and then drop the keys in...but no problems.
Good luck

The gloss trim options are for s%$t. If you want it to look nice just don't touch it. Don't wipe it either unless you have spray a lubricant/cleaner to act as a buffer between the towel and the trim.

Good call! Gloss piano black surfaces are also a total nightmare for showing up dust particles. The surface is so delicate even a steely glance will scratch it. I've had the open pore black ash trim for 6 months and it is still totally unmarked

I have the black ash with black leather and love it. Like others have said it doesn't show finger prints and is very easy to maintain. You can see pictures of mine in the official picture thread (near the end of the thread currently).
