Spring is here!

Finally... after a snowy and cold winter I was able to get the summer tyres back on a put the car through a decent wash and some wax!

How are you cars after the winter? Any special cleaning procedures worth taking into account?

Mercedes GLC43
My son played CYO basketball with the son of the guy who washes cars at our local Mercedes dealership, their team won the basketball CYO championship.

translafion: my GLC which is black with 21 inch rims like yours has a free car wash plan.

Mine came with a 'free' car wash plan as well....Anytime I want a wash I can just show up at the dealers. Had the same on my GLS.

Have I ever used it, hell no. Strictly wash my own, two bucket methods and no sponges that have been laying on the floor....

I never bother.. all my cars remain unwashed for 3 months at a time and then get washed... I just take it to local car wash where the great chaps use a couple of Jet Wash and Sponges...

It annoys me when the sun shines on it and you see these swirl marks, just doesn't look right to me and easily avoidable....My wife walks the dog, I was the car, no time lost from life

All about opinions JP and what is important to you, as an suv in my opinion it should have some mud on it.

Do a "spring-wash" with lots of degreaser and tar-remover (i.e. IronX)

If you like washing your car (like I do) invest in a foam-cannon and quality soap and some wash-mitts. Can't do without it!

Good luck

My annoyance is indeed my opinion, hence I stated that it annoys me I would have thought that doesn't require debate

Regarding getting swirl marks, nope that is not an opinion, it is a simple measurable fact.

I used to use a 'snow foam lance' but recently (well before winter to be honest) switched to a non foam degreaser and found it is much more effective in my experience.

The Valet Pro Citrus Pre-Wash is fantastic. Throughout the winter I just spray it on with a hand pump spray, then simply hose the car down with a (low) pressure washer....Job done. Worked very well. I can highly recommend that.

Washed mine twice by hand since I picked it up two weeks ago and it's rained 2 days after the first wash and one day after the 2nd wash

I meant soap in the foam-cannon, not degreaser , my bad!. I completely agree that degreaser works best as a spray-on. Mine will have get a glass-coat once it arrives!

Happy washing

That's one beautiful Merc, Vikeor!

I notice that the chrome trims on your lower bumper grille look totally different than the ones found on a stock GLC43; where they cover the whole area of the fins instead of only the vertical area. Are those trims aftermarket?

Here in North Carolina USA, I think we are more concerned with being anxious for Spring to end, specifically the tree pollen season, to wash that yellow coating off our GLCs once and for all for the year! :-)
