GLC vs GLE

My experience with glc vs. gle is that it is up to what you want. The GLE is a real SUV-big, extremely quiet and comfortable, feels spacious and heavy, stil is pretty agile in sport mode. Sitting position is high, the interior is not as modern as on the glc but looks really nice and well done in reality. The glc is the newer model, looks nice but is not the real SUV class vehicle, its more like a highly lifted hatchback. In comparison even the bmw x3 has a more suv-like look than the glc, but it is a matter of taste what you want from a car. Glc handles better and feels lighter and more like a car, it's noisier inside and in EU at least the cost is similar to the GLE.

That's true, but the glc starts with 4 cylinders and the gle with 6. You have the GLE 250d but this is kind of useless effort for mb to make a cheaper luxuriousl suv. Similarily equipped glc 350d V6 and gle with the same engine cost about 70000 euro for the gle and 65 to 67 grand for the glc, at least in my country.

Well, in Sweden the difference between GLC/GLE 350d is about 200000 krona.
Quite hefty, considering you get an "old/dated" model if you pick the GLE...
Not worth the near 21000 euros, but to each his own.

That's really strange pricing, here the base price for 350d gle is EUR 63500, for 350d glc is 58500, but in the base glc spec command is not included, while it is in the base proce of the gle, which makes both prices pretty close, no more than EUR2500 difference. Air suspension is also in the base gle price as well. That's from price point of view, otherwise both vehicles are quite different in every aspect, depends what you need and want.

Ok, she test drove the 43 first and didn't even want to drive the 300. It felt more luxurious than the Macan and the sport mode was great. She might buy the 300 because of the price but definitely the GLC over the Macan.

LOL, you shouldn't have let her drive the '43. Now the GLC300 is going to feel weak when she tests it. You'll need to find a way to increase your budget a little. A well equipped '43 goes for about $70k USD and discounts are few and far between.

I suggest you drive a GLC - after you see if it's the right fit for you/Mother - your internet research will have a direction.
To answer your latest question - a GLC will be delivered to the dealer - logged into that dealer's inventory - and if turned over to loaner service for 3-6 months - and when that GLC comes back out for CPO inventory - many dealer website systems will auto post the vehicle delivery miles - and not have the accurate miles from loaner service.
That happens not only with MB brand - but other luxury brands as well - where the web feeding dealer tool has a unintended "hole-in-the-head"...

Seems like the LED lights have some passionate followers, I think we might just have to tick the box now. But really, are they THAT much better driving at night? Are they THAT much better looking?

Be assured, you'll not regret doing so.

Unless always driving in town, the LED headlights are definitely worth it. It is good to see that the US version is also getting a good endorsement considering they are functionally less compared to the rest of the world. That and an upgraded sound system were the first ticks for me.
PS. If she is now in a 435i it will be interesting to learn what she thinks of the GLC300, especially after already driven the GLC43. To me it is a no brainer...

But, regarding the "nappa" leather on the configurator, I think some clarification is needed. We are talking about the U.S. configurator...right? And for the GLE, you should see 13 choices:
![](https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbworld.org-vbulletin/747x303/blob_74f345aedc28aa6126352e612889dbbddb108b49.png)
The GLE actually has more choices than both the GLC (C-Class SUV) and GLS (S-Class SUV). I think the misconception is with "nappa." Mercedes upholstery choices are normally (from low end to high end): MB-Tex, Leather, Nappa Leather, designo Leather.
Occasionally, you will see two different priced leather both labeled Nappa. Inevitably, the diamond stitching will be the most expensive. (designo, is almost always (like 99.9%) diamond stitched).
And you are 100% correct, dealerships very very rarely ever order the highest end upholstery for a vehicle that is going to sit on the lot (or be used as a loaner etc.). You would most likely have to build a new vehicle to get the designo interior, unless someone canceled their order. I have an ML350 (previous GLE naming) with MB-Tex and a C450 with designo leather and they are light years apart for the feeling that you get when you sit inside them (or the comments that you get from anyone else that sits inside them).

I also just read about the upcoming I6 from Mercedes to go into the 43 AMG models (2019??). I also noticed apple carplay for 2018. I dislike how the black wood is mixed with aluminum as well for 2018 (like the current GLC 300); the black wood with aluminum looks cheap to me. Pics below of full black wood (MY17 43) vs black wood/alum (MY17 300, soon to be 43). Lots to consider...

From your profile, I can't tell whether you're in North America (U.S. or Canada), or elsewhere in the world. In North America, we get a dumbed-down version of the LED Intelligent Light System, compared to what everybody else gets.
Nevertheless, it was worth the premium to get the LED ILS, in my opinion. (I got the Canadian version.)
