Your opinion on the subject isn't worth much considering that AMG considers the vehicle a "true AMG". The 43' models are eligible to membership in the AMG PL (they have a dedicated subforum) and they are also eligible for the AMG Driving Academy.

A C43 is a very different vehicle from a C300 and is much more than a V6 with all the options. Same goes for the GLC43.

I will agree that a V8 will always produce a better rumble than a 6 but that isn't what defines an AMG. Hell, a NA V8 will always sound better than a turbo 8 but guess what? ...AMG is no longer producing naturally aspirated engines.

well that's what happens when companies care more about profit; ideas change and the original function of AMG as an independent company is lost. just because Mercedes considers it real, doesn't mean i do.

Very very slow
Just get a 43 now and you won't regret.
Maybe, will regret for not getting a 63 later.

Difference here is €30.000 between a GLC250 and a GLC43. This excludes significant higher price for some options (no deal packages, so another €3.000 on top for the options I've selected for my 250), and higher costs for road tax, insurance and maintenance costs. For €33.000 you can buy a nice second handed sports car. So no regrets at all.

Where is here?

I find it amazing how the price variations are around the world. Makes me think we got lucky in the UK with the difference being almost negligible. I fully agree that for 33K I probably wouldn't have gone for one either, then again I probably wouldn't have been in a GLC at all then since the 350d wasn't available to order back in September.

"Here" is in the Netherlands, where cars not only have VAT, but also a tax component called BPM that multiplies (i.e you pay also VAT over the BPM...) depending on the amount of CO2/Diesel/electric etc.

So for both cars, the net price, VAT and BPM (ref Oct 2016) in the Netherlands:
GLC250 = 55.995 = 39.487 + 8.292 + 8.216 (tax --> 16.508)
GLC43 = 87.105 = 54.212 + 11.384 + 20.299 (tax --> 31.683 ...)

Same cars in Germany:
GLC250 = 44.922 = 37.750 + 7.172
GLC43 = 61.761 = 51.900 + 9.861
I.e. for the price of the GLC250 in the Netherlands, you can buy a GLC43 in Germany...

Same cars in Belgium:
GLC250 = 46.585 = 38.500 + 8.085
GLC43 = 64.251 = 53.100 + 11.151

Same car in Austria (has a similar tax as NL):
GLC250 = 50.050 = 39.335 + 10.715
GLC43 = 75.250 = 53.964 + 21.286

The differences are huge as you can see. Guess what this will mean for the GLC63 in the Netherlands...

See here why in the Netherlands cars are typically one category smaller compared to surrounding countries. Most larger cars are lease.

the 300 to the 43 is pretty much just a fully loaded 300 with a V6.
I think the whine you've been drinking was made from sour grapes.

This is why I went with the 43. I'm not a fan of 4cyl power plants and I knew I would be getting heavy into the options. Add to that the expanded wheel selection and the 43 seemed like the natural choice. It also helps that I was cross shopping the 2018 SQ5. Had the GLC been available even with a NA V6 I wouldn't have bothered with the added expense of the 43.

Not sure why people look down on the 43 models. It is just a car, MB decided to badge it with AMG, and it performs a hell of a lot better than the model it is based upon. Sure, it doesn't have a great sounding V8 and a "few" more HP (I know there are numerous more differences), but those facts notwithstanding it drives like a dream and fills a void for MB for those that want more but don't want to deal with a 63.

Yes, see Denmark, the king of automobile prices in EU:
GLC250 = € 93.722
GLC43 = €137.734
