Does anyone know what that speaker is above the gas pedal? It's about 3-4 inches in diameter directly above the gas pedal.

It's a subwoofer. Here's the speaker placement:

The sub woofer is in the center and much larger, that I can see. This is a small 3-4 inch speaker directly above the gas pedal, integrated into the black plastic above it.
It's in that picture you attached where the speakers are blue.

I don't know what system you have, but the burmester has 2 subwoofers, one for each side. that speaker may be a middle tone speaker.

These speakers are woofers . This is the "FrontBass" arrangement that you've read about if you looked at MB brochures or other MB marketing materials. Do an internet search to learn more about the FrontBass concept.

Here is a pic of the speaker. I have reached down to feel it while driving to see if it is vibrating, making noise, I get nothing. If it is a fake engine noise speaker I am going to disconnect it.
Sorry for the crappy pic. Not easy to get to.

Seriously...its B63 Engine Noise Over Speaker. Look at the 2nd schematic there are 14 speakers in the drawing 13 are for the Burmeister system as I laid out before and the single one over the accelerator pedal is part of B63......

That is it. I believe bellermb is correct. Fake sound when in sport mode. I never use sport mode and my GLC is in the shop today getting new brake pads and a map update. I will check it out when I get it back.

just check with my dealer. Apparently my car don't come with the B63 code.

So now that leaves me with a burning question. If that is not the fake engine sound speaker, what could it be?

So today I tried Sport+ mode. Still nothing out of that speaker. I do not have that "B63" code on my build either. I find it hard to believe Mercedes would install a speaker if it was not needed, think of all the money they could save.
