Door Ajar
I see no warning light when a door is open and car is running. I saw in a post somewhere else (a CLA forum I believe) that the door ajar light only comes on if a door is open and the car is moving 5 or 10 mnph or something like that? is that the same for the GLC300?

Kind of ridiculous.

you can check to see which door is open even the car is not moving if you have 360 camera on your car.
Simply press the 360 camera button on the dash and it will show you which door is open before you put the car in gear.

"Not In Park" Message
If your driver door is open and you take the car out of PARK, you likely will get a message in RED and loud "Bong" warning that the car is NOT in PARK and that the car may roll away. (The computer assumes that you may not be in the car to apply the brake.)

Yes, for example, opening the driver's door to check curb clearance while parking against a curb on the driver's side will result in an abrupt automatic application of the parking brake, which then requires a manual brake release.

On my 2018 GLC 300 a red "door open" icon appears marking the exact door that is open even before the car starts to move. Not sure why others are describing a different behavior. Maybe model year or market - mine is the Canadian model.

i know it shows which door is open when you put the car in "R" because it enables the cameras also.
Mine is 2017 GLC43, Canadian version too.

So have confirmed that the door open icon comes on (for the specific door that is open) in “P”, “D” and “R”. The behaviour is exactly what l would expect. This is on a GLC300 2018 Canadian model.
