My GLC Smells

When I reach my destination (15 miles last night) there's a hot rubbery/plasticky smell coming from the front of my GLC - approx3k mileage. So much so that other people remark on it. Any ideas?

What engine is in your GLC. Is it diesel or petrol? If it is diesel, could be dpf regeneration.

Yes, it's diesel. Sorry, should have said. Thanks for your suggestion, could be the answer. I wonder how frequently PDF regen happens.

My diesel did this a few weeks after I got the car and it had only a few hundred miles on the clock. I'd not taken it for any long drives so I guessed that was the reason for the DPF regeneration.

Hasn't happened since and I'm now on just over 3k mileage.

Experienced exactly the same thing several times and I am pretty sure it is normal.

The first time was the worst and you could smell it throughout our car park.

I am pretty sure it is the diesel dpf regeneration and the hot exhaust burning off it's protective coating it gets when new.

It gradually diminishes but the interesting thing I have noticed is that, if this the case, a dpf regen happens during normal city driving rather than having to wait for a long drive.

The tell tale sign (apart from the smell) is you will hear the exhaust ticking as it cools, straight after you have stopped.
