Question Need help deciding between 2015 ML350 and 2017 GLC CPO

OK, I am in the market for a new vehicle. My C300 sport is getting up there in miles and so is my back. The sports sedan ride is no longer fun on long trips and I find the low entry and exit a bit taxing at times.

I really like my wife's GLK. Perfect blend of sedan and SUV. But alas, they stopped making it.

Now, I have driven both the GLC and the ML and they both have pros and cons. The GLC would be newer, have fewer miles, an almost perfect height to get in and out, a reasonably smooth engine and transmission and a really now cabin layout. But to me the styling on the outside is blah and almost effeminate.

The ML350 I am looking at is a 2015, with 30k miles. Nicely equipped. I like the styling, rides great. A bit of a heavy beast, the lack of acceleration would take some getting used to. And it makes the fit in the garage a little tight (but doable).

So what is everyone's thoughts?

Thanks

Mike

I own a GLC. I have owned a GL. I have had a GLK and GLE as loaners. I prefer my GLC for size as well as performance. It also gets decent fuel economy.

I agree with your comments on the outside styling. I call the styling "nondescript" because there isn't much that distinguishes the outside style from many other current and past SUVs. Especially the side profile looks very similar to many other SUVs in my opinion.

Some of the exterior options help to give the car a more masculine appearance, such as the sports package (called the AMG package for 2018 models).

Like most cars, how you option it out makes a big difference in styling. I really don't like how the base GLC looks -- effeminate like you say.

However, with a few tweaks I start to really like it. It wasn't until I saw one like speedeye's in person that I fell in love. https://mbworld.org/forums/glc-class...ml#post6960501

AMG styling + night + rims = yum.

That car is really nice. It is also an AMG 43. You should be able to duplicate a 300 to look like that with sport package/AMG styling package.

Ended up getting the GLC. And a new one to boot. For only $500 more than the CPO I was considering. Selenite gray, black MB Tex with the black ash trim.

Did not get the wheels I liked, but as I am planning on replacing them with black AMG wheels when I do new tires, it's no big deal.
