As fabbrisd1 stated in #22 thread above, there is no problem in updating V5.0 to V8.1. As he stated in that thread, right now the M-B Download Manager is not designed to check for the 60 day limit on updates.
The SD card you buy on eBay is V5.0 and can be updated. Just follow the steps outlined by fabbrisd1. Someone had stated in W205 forum that after update the SD card can be used in vehicle other than the original one,but no one has confirmed it.

Your screenshot of DM shows the last update date. When I tried to update, it didn't have any previous update. May be the DM will allow only one update. When mtnhntr tried to update after his first update from V5.0 to V6.0, the DM only offered only the software update option (thread #5).

I am currently trying to get an update on my SD card. The update is 575mb, and I have gotten as high as 540mb, then the download manager crashes - sometimes freezing the whole computer. Here is my experience that might help:
My original sd card had 2015/2016 (v5.0) North America, Software V1.2, SW 25.18, Build 15/2400. Size was 12.65 GB.
I checked several months ago for updates and found that there was an update. To 2016 (V6.0) North America, Software V6.1, SW 33.30, 16/37.00, E66.2. Size was 13.51 GB. Before updating I saved a copy per the download manager instructions in case I needed to restore it. The download went like gusman1 describes -stopping, then restarting several times. Eventually I got it to download. It took about 2 hrs (I have 175mbps speed). When I inserted it into the car sd card slot I could not get much of anything. I discussed this on another thread. You might look for that thread. I then tried to restore the old version, but it was locked out for some reason and I thought I had bricked it. I went back into the download manager and tried to do the upgrade. This time I stayed at the computer and it did not stop during the download. I put it in the car and Eureka! it worked.
I decided I was not going to remove it ever again until 2 days ago when I turn on Navi and a message comes up that says to eject the sd card and verify it is unlocked. I did this, but I still keep getting the same message. So, back to the download manager I went and discovered that there is a new update to the software :V8.1, SW 37.15, 17/02.00, E70.2. The size was 575mb. I have been working on getting this update installed for 2 days now and I can not get anywhere because the download manager keeps crashing. MB GET THIS DAMNED THING FIXED!! There, I feel better now.

When my original Garmin SD card got bricked while updating, I got a new card (V5.0) from my dealer. When @fabbrisd1 was kind enough to update it for me, he found virus in it and corrupted his computer. This card was used only for 2 days and was never out of the vehicle. So I believe that these cards from the M-B dealer contained the virus from the duplicator.

Have there been any changes to the status of downloading a newer SD version on a MAC? Or can it only be done on a PC?
I see some sites for Mercedes DM for MAC and curious how well they work, if anyone has tried?

I just updated my SD card and got the same results as netboy - the software got updated to 8.1, but I still have the 5.0 map data. The DM says my card is up to date and it does not offer any further updates. This is the first time I have updated my card, which I have been using since late September.
Any tips on how we might get the newer map data?

just updated mine to version 10 in UK, obviously maps stayed at version 8, 2017. No changes noticed, still no option to select navigation type (fast, less fuel or short) on every destination (shame Garmin). Map zooming seemed snappier but would know once I drive with it. Route calculation still slow, tried London->Cambridge takes about 22 seconds to calculate on fast route. 30 seconds on less fuel.

Hi, I just cross by and want to check is there any 60-day-free-upgrade rules right now? I have a 2017 C300 and plan to get an SD card. I see netboy states that the map cannot be upgraded two times and fabbrisd1 seems to have 'unlimited' upgrade cycle.

Hi All,
What username and password is needed to login to the download manager? I tried the generic User01 and User02 as well as the username I use to login to the mobile app and none are authenticating correctly.

I thought you could use anything, that it really wasn't a security point. Try putting in an email address?
