350e - why no temperature gauge?

I have just recently got a 350e and noticed that there is no engine temperature gauge - it would have been where the eco/charge gauge sits. The car may be a hybrid, but I'd still like to know the engine running temperature. Can someone explain?

My wifes mini doesn't have a temperature gauge, I suppose it works on the precis that if it is high you get a warning.

Today's coolant temp gages do not indicate the "real" temp of the engine coolant. They are designed to have a very wide dead band and won't move from center until you are about to get a warning light. So, no need for the gage and less expense for you and the manufacturer. They are installed in "performance" cars for the esthetics more than anything else. My Porsche Carrera S has the gage, but it works just like I described.

Somewhat belatedly, I discovered that I do in fact have a coolant temperature display, which is under the "Service" menu.
