Engine Sounds Diesel
I just my GLC 250 4matic delivered few weeks back. Upon picking up from the dealer, I noticed that the engine sounds like diesel engine, who the dealer who telling me that it was not warm yet.
After driving for several weeks, I feel that the engine is still sounds like diesel all at all conditions even after warmed up. My friend asked if it is a diesel car. They told me that gas car cant sounds this.
Is this normal and the engine is fxxxx?

I have a GLC 300 4Matic here in USA and its engine sounds just like that; I keep thinking it sounds like a diesel too. Peppy thing, though. I am amazed at the burst of speed acceleration even when already going highway speed.

They are suppose to sound like that. The gas engine is direct injected and does sound like a diesel. Both my Mercedes sound this way.

2.5 litre, direct injection, turbocharger, whats not to love? My last 3 M-B were DI, 2 gas, 1 diesel. I honestly don't hear anything to be concerned over. BTW enjoy your new ride.

Ditto. Direct injection is noisy. My personal experience is with Audi, BMW, and Subaru DI 4-cyl engines. All were a bit diesel-y sounding, and especially so for the first few minutes after a cold start. Takes some getting used to.

Agree with GSO.....love how the thing will scoot if you need it to! Smoothly and quietly too.

I have a GLC300 and it makes the same sound. I brought it back to the dealer the 2nd day I had it. They said it was due to the 20,000 psi fuel injector pump. They also said if it didn't have the sound deadening cover it would sound like someone beating on the engine with a hammer.
