115v rear outlet

115v AC rear outlet not working. 12V outlet next to it works. Checked fuse diagram in rear fuse box, but didn't see 115v AC outlet listed. Is there a fuse?

A gaggle of MB's
Your MB needs to be running for 110V

Rear cargo 12V will stay active after car is turned off.

110V outlet will only operate during driving

On a related topic I blew the fuse on the cigarette lighter socket in the front. Dealer replaced and said that shouldn't be used to charge phone since it's only 15 amp is really only used for cigarette lighter. If I use to charge a phone he said it will blow every time. The fact that the phone fits perfecly there messages or annoying if in gets that's the case. Plus other vehicles I have used cigarette lighter socket with no issue. Any thoughts on this?

Ajm, I don't know what your dealer is thinking, but there is no way a 2.4 amp USB car charger would blow a 15 amp circuit. I have been using these Scosche dual port USB chargers in my cars (and my two daughters use them too) for several years with zero problems. Using one now in my GLC. The power ratings are shown on the side of the charger. For comparison, I installed seat heaters in my Prius and used a similar 15A circuit to power them. Combined, the heaters drew about 10-12 amps and I NEVER blew a fuse.

There may have been a problem/short in your charger, but I don't believe it had anything to do with using it in the front 12V outlet you blew. I have read that some cheap, generic chargers can be problematic. Pick up a good quality charger like one of these and I think you'll be pleased. They have 2.1A output on each USB port and they will charge your phone FAST! Watch out, some early dual port chargers had a 2.1A output on one port and 1.2A on the other. You want 2.1-2.4 on each. And no, they will not overcharge your phone.

BTW, these chargers are really low profile and won't get in the way of anything. Easy to pop out if you need to also.

Hope this helps!

Use the built-in USB sockets to charge your phone. There is no need to use the lighter socket.

Sure there is.....maybe you're using the USB sockets for their intended use, as a media interface and the source is not your phone. And there's two people in the car, both needing to charge their phone on a trip. What's the second person to do?

More importantly, as ajmtbm said, the 12V port is SO convenient. And who wants cords running from the center console to the front storage area?

My feeling is there's no reason NOT that to use a USB charger in the 12V socket. And I would suggest just because cars used to all have cigarette lighters in the front, that is not the case anymore. My '06 Highlander had a couple of extra 12V ports in the front, explicitly for use as something other than holding a cigarette lighter.

Besides, do you really think MB put a 12V socket in that front storage area, KNOWING only a fraction of drivers would actually use it for a cigarette lighter? And it would be "hands off" if you chose not to use it as such?

VaBoy is right...the cigarette lighter outlet is perfect and makes perfect sense for a USB charger port...have one in mine. Just logical, cable wise
