I just picked up my GLC 300 today, and am pretty excited about it. But it seems like there should be cup holders in the center console. Is there supposed to be some kind of insert that goes near the cigarette lighter/ashtray area? I see some on eBay and Amazon, so I guess I can get one of those. Does anybody have recommendations? Thanks!

Did you try pressing on the cover right in front of the command wheel knob? When pressed it opens up the space for two cups.

I just have a tray there, no cup holders. I feel like there should be cup holders there. Are there supposed to be cup holders there?

Yes, we have cup holders between the ashtray area and the command knob.

there is a cupholder that is supposed to go there that is removable.
perhaps its in the rear under the load floo?.

Wow, that's not what I have. Where was your car made? I have the cup holders between the ashtray and the wheel. But I don't have that tray.

Once you remove the cup holders you can find the ash try that's sits right behind it as well.

Yes, there should be. It seems that you dealer forgot to put them in before delivery. You shouldn't have to go to eBay or Amazon for them, they are supposed to come with the car.

On a related note, the cupholders have too large a diameter and are too shallow to hold the standard 16 oz. or 20 oz. water bottles securely. (Maybe they are made for German beer steins!) These bottles tip over and spill water on even moderate turns. The only solution I've found so far is to get the Sam's Club 20 oz. bottles that are shorter and fatter than bottles sold in supermarkets and convenience stores. Anybody got a better solution?

1. OP had BOTH cupholder insert & ashtray removed - those come installed from the factory - if it was purchased used from non-MB dealer then eBay - if purchased new or CPO from MB dealer YES they should provide replacement.

On Mr Bottle - why not use the door panel - or get Bottle Pro bottle holder (or any other type) from Amazon and in 2-days problem solved/
