If I turn off the vehicle via button the retained accessory power stays on. Radio on. Heated seats and steering wheel also, which I find unusual. When i open the door they turn off. Interior lights stay off, though I can turn on the reading lamps manually if I want. Dome light comes on when I open the door
When I turn the vehicle if with the key, all power goes out and the interior lights go on.
I think I prefer the radio to go off and the lights come on when using the button. Any idea how this can be accomplished?
(Actually best would be the lights come on and retained power remains, but I won't be greedy...)

I think the answer is that you have to live with it. No way to change the behavior.

I have not tested this, but I think the number of times you press the keyless button corresponds to the different key positions. Remember a key can be in positions 0 (off), 1 (accessories on) and 2 (engine on). Pressing the button once, when the engine is on, is the same as moving the key from position 2 to position 1. My guess is if you press the button twice the accessories will turn off (i.e. key position 0).
Note, to use the button for the equivalent of key position 1 when first getting in the car (engine off), press the button without pressing the brake pedal. You will need to do this if you want to use the garage door remote button on the rear view mirror without starting the car. I do this all the time because I keep my car in the garage and I don't like starting the car until the door is open.
