Paint Quality Question

Just took delivery of our designo diamond white 2018 GLC43 last week. Looking closely at the paint, it looks like the base coat is a bit mottled or wrinkly. Have any of you noticed the same look? Just wondering whether I got a bad paint job. See photo below. The photo makes it look a little worse than it actually appears, but you get the idea.

It's normal......depending on what your version of 'normal'is!!
Do you like(Love ) the car?

If so enjoy,.

Others will give you the technical details / 'problems ' with modern paint.

I say enjoy the car and good luck with it as we say here in Ireland!

Sláinte agus go néirí an bóthhar leat!

Indeed! Haven't put many miles on the car, but definitely love driving it. Not too bothered by the paint, just wanted to know if it is the new normal.
I've watched videos of the Bremen robotic painting and looks to be electrostatic. Maybe that has something to do with this effect.
Sláinte agus go néirí an bóthhar leat! to you too. (Had to Google it to get the meaning. Nice!)

Completely normal. If you want perfectly smooth paint, you have to get the hand - and machine - polished finishes of cars like Aston Martin, Bentley, and Rolls Royce, among other very expensive vehicles. These brands essentially go the extra step of removing this very normal "orange peel" as they call it in the industry.
