GLC 300
Post CarPlay Apple GLC 300 Aftermarket?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to add the CarPlay (Apple) to a 2018 GLC 300. When purchasing, the dealership said it could be done after market since they didn't have any in stock with other features I wanted. What could be done since I would like to add this feature? Everything I'm seeing online didn't include the 2018, but 2017 and older only.

Any information appreciated!

Check with Unichip...sponsor on these forums. Depending on when your 2018 GLC was built, it MAY be eligible to use the Unichip OBD product to activate ACP/AA. It seems like there was some technology change by MB AFTER Sept 2017 builds that might make it possible for you to add without much trouble. At least that's what it sounds like from comments on one of the other threads regarding this.

I wanted to add to my 18 GLC with COMAND, but not possible without adding hardware and taking apart the dash. Not gonna happen. Good luck, it really is kind of insane MB is slacking here in probably the fastest growing segment of the auto market.

Inside driver's door on a sticker. Gives month/year.

I think I'm in the same boat (18 GLC with multimedia/COMAND). Very disappointed with this aspect.

The long and short of it from my research pre-purchase is this. If you have MM/COMAND, only aftermarket options exist - as someone said above, check with Unichip. Perhaps others will come out - lots of GLA/CLA options out there. If you have standard screen WITHOUT COMAND, it can be retrofitted. The parts needed are the phone prep kit - which has the extra USB port for CarPlay and coding to allow CarPlay. IF you are in the boat of having the phone prep already, but only missing Carplay feature (odd but I suppose possible), that can be turned on with one of those OBD2 pluggy things unofficially and officially the dealer can activate it through their Star Diag system. Because if the phone prep wiring is in place, it's just a feature code but again, only on non-COMAND cars.

A gaggle of MB's
Go to eBay - find a listing for CarPlay 2018 GLC from Vladimir in Belarus.

Message Vladimar with your VIN# - and he will message you back if CarPlay plug-n-play module is available for your GLC.. the VIN# gives him access to the full details for your GLC - and he will say either "yes" for plug-n-play solution - or he will say "no" for your GLC... easy peezy
