Ventilated Seats

I'm considering purchasing the GLC 350e and want ventilated seats. Do they have to be leather? I'm fine with the standard MB-Tex, but when I select the ventilated seats on the build site, it defaults to leather. Thanks!

Technically they don't HAVE to be leather. But Mercedes makes you buy leather to get them. MB tex is much more durable and resilient than leather. I have had both and I notice leather is much harder to clean and it tends to hold smells. Vent seats really don't cool you that much anyways.

I am surprised at the price point that the seats aren't cooled.
at $1,030 for heaed/ventilated I'm sure that could cover the cost and then some of having the air colored

I have Ventilated seats, and im not that impressed with them. Not much air is felt, even on the highest fan setting.. Not really worth the money IMHO

I also have them. In 2016, they were part of the interior package. If you got leather, you got them. Not great.

A gaggle of MB's
Well... Leather develops "scalding hot spots" under harsh sun.... MBTex does not...leather under sun - where the sun hits it - build up heat that as hot spot since leather does not conduct heat well - MBTex - where the sun hits it will conduct the heats across the entire seat surface using both the synthetic top layer and the cotton webbing base layer...you can scald the sh*t out of your thighs in shorts getting into a Porsche roadster with leather interior .. get into a MB sedan with MBTex - seat surface will be "warm" but not scalding...

That's the deal with Ventilation-For-Leather-If-You-Want and No-Ventilation-Available-For-MBtex..... but some here feel the need to rage against the machine..

I love the ventilated seats. I find that if you have the ac at least partially on the floor setting, the seats pick up that cool air and direct it right on to you.

Makes perfect sense, will try this. I ordered the ventilated seats and thought "uh", but it hasn't been really hot outside...this idea may kick the cooling up a notch. Thanks!

MB’s of all kinds.
If you have to get them then you get them for the purpose of getting the leather over MB Text. I have the ventilated seats in 4 of my MB's and they do not do much.

I really don’t understand why MB has no cooling, only ventilation, i.e. regular air circulation. My Audi A5 cabriolet has heating AND cooling, which worked very well on hot sunny days with the roof down.

I don't think Audi has cooled seats in any of their vehicles. My Q5 had ventilated seats which were better than my GLC300 but they're not cooled. My son has a GMC truck with cooled seats and it'll freeze your butt after a few minutes if you leave it on high.

My 2018 GLC43 (and my previous E63S wagon) has ventilated seats. I find it to be good particularly if it is hot since it provides a cooling flow particularly when you are sweating (like a normal fan). I do not use the AC much but I suspect that if you run the AC and the seat ventilation you will get a better cooling effect since it will draw air from the rear passenger compartment. I am certainly not looking for bone chilling cooling for the seats (and actually run with the sunroof and windows open most times.
