I'm 28 year old male buying a white GLC 300 with beige leather interior. Currently deciding between the interior trim:
1. Dark Brown Linden Wood Dark Brown Linden Wood
2. Burl Walnut Wood Burl Walnut Wood
What do people think is the more classy trim and fit for my demographic?
(Here is the link if you want to view the trims from different angles - just select the respective trims in the 2nd section and see it reflected on the image: https://www.mbusa.com/en/vehicles/bu...egory=interior )
Myself, I picked the light brown linden wood.
It looks classy, but mostly to get the interior as light as possible.
I just can't stand the German preference; all dark/dull/black....
Why is the glossy crap hard to clean? Looks so good on the showroom floor
the lacquer that protects it fades hence deteriorates the wood. Natural wood is the best. Like mine. Many gadgets, shinny things look good in the showroom that's the point to make you the fool. Don't buy it and you will be ok.

Thank you for the heads up - that's very helpful. What does the lacquer look like when it fades and deteriorates the wood?
I'm hearing it's a problem that is inevitable, and not caused by wear and tear like finger prints, is that correct?

yes it will happen with time. Keep in mind MB, knows the shiny trim attracts the consumer, especially Americans. Just like any furniture, heat, humidity, exposure to sunlight, the gloss will dim and hence the opaque look appears. Buy natural feels more real than junk.

Thanks. When it's opaque, does it look old and grimy, or something else?

I've seen them in person many times. Grimy, greasy, hazy, and it really looks unnatural. Wood should not need a laminate. Mine is doing just fine. Garaged kept car yet in 3 years it's still looks new without doing anything to the wood.

That's unfortunate. Is there any way to fix that or do you just need to get a new car?
Haha, makes sense. Does MB dealership replace it for free or is it expensive?
cosmetic you pay $, unless you can get the dealership to cover it. It can be done. I'm friends with 2 dealerships owners so I get a lot of free stuff if I wanted.
Thanks, I read through it but saw about how the dealer may or may not honor the warranty. What part talks about the prevention?
Keep in garage when not driving, to avoid direct sunlight. As mentioned time will eventually decay the lacquer. It's tacky and artificial looking. It may last 1 year or decades, it's going to fade and look unnatural eventually. The natural ash wood is classy, luxurious, and regal.

Agreed on the natural wood. I actually liked the natural Linden Wood in the C class because of vertical stripes vs the diagonal pattern of the ashwood. What are your thoughts on how I should think about the Linden Wood vs Ashwood patterns in terms of classiness, luxuriousness and regal?

I agree that natural grain is the only choice and I'm glad I ordered it. The look is way more subtle and on trend than the older style glossy finishes. In this photo, which was taken in direct sunlight, you can see how awful and smudged the gloss trim pieces on the console look compared to the wood.

good choice, However the new interior layout Mercedes Benz has implemented on all models is for me disappointing. Besides the open pore wood trim the The nerd herd electronic gauges, glued on iPad screen. No more the classic interior MB. The seats and interior done much better. I'm extremely pleased I went with my special order in July 2015. MY16 W212 E63S.
