Distronic Plus question

My GLC is equipped with Distronic Plus as part of the Driver Assist package and in heavy stop and go traffic it does a good job of keeping pace with the traffic including stopping as needed. However, it doesn’t seem to start moving again until I put my foot on the accelerator. Does anyone else experience this issue? Or am I too impatient to get moving again and I should wait until the car starts up on its own?

A gaggle of MB's
In Stop-In-Go traffic - yes - with Distronic active - you need to "tap" the accelerator from stop to get moving and in-sync with traffic again

if you stop for a very short period - 1 or 2 seconds or so - the car will start moving again on its own, otherwise a tap of the accelerator, as the others have mentioned, is required

In most situations, I can also get the GLC to move again by pulling the cruise control stalk toward me, instead of pressing the accelerator, if it braked to a stop on its own.

Just curious...do any of you allow the distronic system to automatically stop fully for you when encountering stopped traffic, or do you manual aid in stopping your car as well. I personally have never relied on the system to do total braking for me without my assist.

i normally let the vehicle stop itself, but my foot is always in position to take over just in case. it has never failed to stop perfectly, but i still cant bring myself to not be ready.
i also set mine to the longest distance to the car ahead... which to me is still to short.

I find the Distronic Cruise control with Auto pilot assist amazing.!!
In stop-go traffic I will turn it on and just switch over to monitor mode.
It will maintain the set distance from the vehicle in front and come to a full stop if the traffic ahead comes to a stop (yes I do hover over the brake pedal ..just in case, but it has never failed yet!)
You must understand that it will come to a full stop if it is already tracking a vehicle ahead. If you come upon a stationery vehicle that it was not already tracking then it WILL NOT function. It may stop but this will be the Auto Emergency Brake system engaging and is not the Distronic function. They are separate systems.

If the Distronic brings you to a halt behind a vehicle and you are stationery for less than 10 second (I think), then Distronic will move the GLC off when the traffic moves...but if you stand still longer, you either have to pull the Cruise Control level or touch the "GO" pedal. It will then resume the set speed or the set distance from the vehicle in front. Acceleration characteristics will be defined by the driving mode selected ..E, C, S or S+

given the amount of technologies in these cars, always amazing why owners won’t RTFM.

100% agreement with that observation.

It can also be hard to understand what features described in the manual require what option packages.

If stopped for >3 sec you will need to tap the accelerator to resume. It's a safety feature. Level 2 autonomy requires certain features to force driver engagement otherwise people get lazy and do stupid stuff instead of paying attention and driving.

The manuals are more counter intuitive than the videos. In my case, google is my friend.
